• <br /> the vicinity from which he started without paying a second <br /> fare. <br /> A transfer issued shall be used only by the person to whom <br /> it was issued and shall be void thirty minutes after its <br /> issuance, except in such cases as a longer period shall be <br /> required because of the schedule of the buses being operated <br /> by the company. <br /> section $ The franchise holder shall permit all firemen and policemen <br /> FREE SERVICE <br /> of the City of Everett when in uniform and in the discharge of <br /> their duties, or when in discharge of their duties, to ride on <br /> any motorbus or vehicle operated by the company without the <br /> payment of any fare. <br /> Section 9 The company shall at all times save the City harmless from <br /> COMPANY TO <br /> SAVE CITY and against any and all damages, lawful claims and demands for <br /> HARNT.Eb5 <br /> injury to person or property which may be made against the City <br /> in any manner growing out of the ownership, maintenance or <br /> operation of the motor buses and any and all other equipment <br /> and structures of the company, provided the City' s negligence <br /> is not the proximate cause of the injury; and in case suit <br /> shall be filed against the City, either independently or <br /> jointly with the company, to recover for any such claim or <br /> damages, the company upon notice to it by the City, shall <br /> defend the City against such action, and in the event of a <br /> judgment being obtained against the City, either independently <br /> of or jointly with the company, on account of the acts of the <br /> company aforesaid, the company shall pay such judgment with <br /> all costs and hold the City harmless therefrom. <br /> section 10 This franchise and grant shall never be construed as creating <br /> COMPET- <br /> ITION in or granting to the company any exclusive grant, right or <br /> franchise. <br /> -4- <br />
