• <br /> One Superintendent; One Clerk; One Auto Repairman; One Assis- <br /> tant Auto Repairman; Four Foremen; Nine Truck Drivers; One <br /> Crusherman; One Donkeyman; Two Bulldozen Operators; Two <br /> Gradermen; One Yardman; One Night Watchman; One Dumpman; <br /> Three Push-up men; One or more Utility Laborers; and One or <br /> More Lay Laborers. <br /> Said officers, assistants and employees shall perform the <br /> duties pertaining to such office as indicated by the name of their <br /> respective employments, and such other duties as the Superintendent <br /> of Streets or Commissioner of Public Works shall, from time to time, <br /> authorize and direct. <br /> Section 20: WATER DEPARTMENT <br /> There shall be the following named officers, assistants and <br /> employees in the Water Department of the Oity of Everett, to-wit: <br /> One Superintendent (part time) ; One Assistant Superintendent; <br /> One Distribution System Foreman; One Chief Clerk; One Clerk; <br /> One Accountant; Four Water. Control Station Operators; One <br /> Headworks Operator; Two Senior Engineering Aides; One En- <br /> gineering Aide; One or more Foremen; One Welder; One black- <br /> smith; One Blacksmith' s Helper; One Inspector; One Assistant <br /> Inspector; One or more Heavy Equipment Operators; One or <br /> more Truck Drivers; One Machinist; One Auto Repairman; One <br /> Assistant Auto Repairman; One or more Servicemen; One or <br /> more Servicemen Helpers; Two Meter Repairmen; One Carpenter; <br /> One or more Utility Laborers; One Senior Engineer; One or <br /> more Day Laborers; Two Radio Technicians (part time). <br /> The Superintendent shall be in general charge and have <br /> I supervision of the Water Department. The other officers, assistants <br /> 1 and employees shall perform such duties as pertain to the nature of <br /> their office and as authorized and directed by the Superintendent <br /> g of the Water System and Commissioner of Public Works. <br /> { Section 21: It is the purpose of this Ordinance to fix the <br /> number and description of the permanent assistants, deputies and em- <br /> 1 ployees in the various offices of the City of Everett, and nothing <br /> 1 herein contained shall be construed so as to prevent the various <br /> officers and various heads of the Department of the City of Everett <br /> 1 from employing, with the consent of the City Council, such add- <br /> 1 itional employees, as, from time to time, may be necessary in the <br /> 11 proper discharge of the duties of such officers, or from discontin- <br /> uing such temporary employees when the necessity therefor has ceased <br /> 1 to exist. <br /> Section 22: The appointment of all employees in all Depart- <br /> 1 ments, where required by the City Charter, shall be made subject to 1 <br /> Civil Service regulations of the City of Everett; PROVIDED, in event <br /> vacancies occur and there is no eligiblity list from which said <br /> vacancy may be filled, temporary appointment may be made of persons <br /> without Civil Service standing. <br /> The assistant City Attorney and the Stenographer in the <br /> City Attorney Department shall be appointed by the City Attorney. <br /> The City Clerk shall be ex officio Secretary of the Civil <br /> Service Commission. <br /> The Assistant and Special Examiners in the Civil Service <br /> f Department shall be appointed by the Civil Service Commission. <br /> FThe Clerk of the Police Department shall be appointed by <br /> the Police Justice. <br /> -5. <br />
