Does side sewer have slope: Yes, most of the line does. 2% grade on sewer (except for
where there are bellies)
Depth of side sewer 10ft from house: 8' 2"
Depth of side sewer at proposed B/W valve installation location: 8'
Any additional comments:
0 Sewer is in poor condition, roots at 18' out clogging system, backwater valve
should remove them when installed, but pipe has more roots and a big break and
crack at 75' out near backyard fence.
Problems Identified
1) House side sewer is not protected by a backwater valve. During sewer surcharge
events sewer flows could back up and spill out of below ground fixtures.
Solution: Install backwater valve at location specified on attached sewer and drainage
sketch. Verify that no external drains or downspout lines are tied to side sewer
upstream of the backwater valve.
2) Broken sewer at 75' out from cleanout.
o 0/2011 1 :05:43 PM
r
75 f1 =F •
.,E
Broken side sewer
Solution (A): Dig up side sewer and replace this is not the only spot needing repair just
the worst of several locations. See video.
Possible Solution (B): Reline sewer with epoxy as it has grade just needs joint filled.
This would cost less, but also tends to be less effective.
