This solution allows area to drain during
storm events where the sewer system is surcharged.
Solution B: Install check valve on drain. This will keep sewage and other flows from the
side sewer from backing up through the drain in a surcharge event. However, the drain
will not be able to drain surface water from the area during a storm event and surface
water could pond here and potentially flow into the house.
