• <br /> Section 21: It is the purpose of this ordinance to fix the <br /> number and description of the permanent assistants, deputies, and em- <br /> ployees in the various offices of the City of Everett, and nothing <br /> herein contained shall be construed so as to prevent the various offi- <br /> cers and various heads of the Departments of the City of Everett from <br /> employing, with the consent of the City Council, such additional em <br /> ployees, as, from time to time, may be necessary in the proper dis- <br /> charge of the duties of such officers, or from discontinuing such <br /> temporary employees when the necessity therefor has ceased to exist. <br /> Section 22: The appointment of all employees in all de- <br /> partments, where required by the City Charter, shall be made subject <br /> to Civil Service regulations of the City of Everett; PROVIDED, in <br /> event vacancies occur and there is no eligibility list from which <br /> said vacancy may be filled, temporary appointment may be made of per- <br /> sons without Civil Service standing. <br /> The Stenographer in the City Attorney Department shall <br /> be appointed by the City Attorney. The special Assistant City Attor- <br /> ney shall be appointed by the City Council. <br /> The City Clerk shall be ex officio Secretary of the <br /> Civil service Commission. <br /> The Assistant and Special hxaminers in the Civil Service <br /> Department shall be appointed by the Civil service Commission. The <br /> Clerk of the Police Court Department shall be appointed by the Police <br /> Justice. The officers, assistants, and employees in the Department <br /> of Finance shall be appointed by the Commissioner of Finance. The <br /> officers, assistants, and employees of the Lepartment of Safety shall <br /> be appointed by the Commissioner of Safety. The officers, assistants, <br /> and employees in the Department of Public Y+orks shall' be appointed by <br /> the Commissioner of Public 'Works. <br /> Section 23: On and after the 1st day of January, 1950, the <br /> salaries and compensations to be paid to the officers, assistants, <br /> deputies, and employees of the City of Everett shall be as in this <br /> ordinance provided. <br /> Section 24: CITY ATTORNEY DEPARTMENT <br /> City Attorney 4360.00 per mo. <br /> Special City Attorney (part time) 135.00 per mo. - <br /> Stenographer 175.00 " " <br /> Relief Stenographer (part time) 120.00 per fir. <br /> Section 23: CITY HALL DEPARTMENT <br /> Janitor 260.00 per mo. <br /> Assistant Janitor 245.00 per mo. <br /> Section 26: LIBRARY DEPARTMENT <br /> 1 Librarian not over *350.00 per mo. <br /> 2 Assistant Librarians If t' 280.00 " " <br /> 1 Assistant Librarian " " 275.00 " " <br />
