•
Page 3
6. Sheet M2.01 shows the water heater and exhaust fan vents in close proximity to each
other. See IMC 501.3. The code references or manufacturer's specifications shall be
submitted substantiating the required duct clearances. The following comments shall
be addressed:
a. The minimum spacing of the water heater vents shall be specified.
b. The minimum height above the adjacent grade shall be specified.
c. The minimum clearance to the adjacent exhaust fan vents shall be specified.
RENSCH RESPONSE:Please see updated plans:M2.01. I added key note#5 stating minimum clearances.
There are no required clearances from other exhausts(none by manufacturer, none by code).
See attached partial install manual from manufacturer for venting requirements.
I have also included a copy of the letter from the Structural Engineer on this project stating horizontal assemblies do not
involve smoke partitions or smoke barriers(to justify the statement in key note#2 on our plans stating no smoke dampers
are required because none of the floor/ceiling assemblies are smoke rated).
Please contact me if you have any further questions.
Sincerely,
colL
Adam Lyons—Mechanical Design Engineer
Rensch Engineering, LLC
111 Ave.C Suite 104,Snohomish,WA 98290
(360)-863-6677
Cc: Chris Rensch
End: (6)
