Proposed Location of PUD Return Line Control Valves
Old #5 Line Cross Connect Improvements: Design and construction efforts for the
old #5 line cross connect improvements will be achieved in conjunction with replacing
the screenhouse valves as described above. The Design-Builder is expected to develop
options to daylight the potential cross connection point between the screenhouse intake
lines and the Old #5 line, and also review options to address the removal of the
stagnant water in the Old #5 line should the connection between ISBV5 and ISBV6 be
needed. The Design-Builder shall then submit the options to the City and Washington
State Department of Health for review and approval prior to commencing full design and
construction activities. Improvement options are intended to include provisions for rapid
connection of pipe(s) between ISBV5 and ISBV6 in emergency situations. Any
underground infrastructure related the old #5 line cross connect improvements is
intended to be housed in a seismically stabilized containment vault. Flow to the
flocculation basin must be maintained during this work. It's anticipated the work will be
performed through bypassing the valves along with short shutdowns of the inlet pipes.
Flocculation Basin Improvements: The flocculation basin improvements are intended
to include mixer replacement, structure coating/sealing, installation of a davit crane, and
Page 4 of 16
