Schematic of CFDS Valves and East Clearwell Gates <br /> East Clearwell Gate Improvements: Condition assessment of the East Clearwell <br /> sluice gates found that all six gates have significant corrosion and need replacement. <br /> Three of the six gates have electric operators and three have manual operators. The <br /> City intends to replace all six gates, frames, seals, and operators. All 6 replacement <br /> operators will be electrically driven. Improvement of isolation capabilities at the <br /> backwash suction well is desired. The gates being replaced are GV1, GV2, GV3, GV4, <br /> GV5, and GV6 as shown in Figure 4. <br /> The Design-Builder is expected to review Reference Documents, conduct field <br /> investigations, and communicate with the City to develop and confirm recommendations <br /> for improvements to address the problems and needs identified by the City to date or by <br /> the Design-Builder during their investigations. <br /> The East Clear Well can be taken out of service during this work; however, supply to the <br /> backwash pump station must be maintained. It is anticipated this work will be performed <br /> through draining the East Clear Well and along with short shutdowns of the backwash <br /> pump station or providing an alternate supply to the station. <br /> The following sections outline and describe the Phase 1 tasks to be completed by the <br /> Design-Builder to assess and develop solutions for the needs identified in the Project <br /> scope. <br /> Page 8 of 16 <br />
