City of Everett,Washington I Water Filter Plant- Phase 2 Capital Upgrades PDB Project <br /> Progressive Design-Build Contract I Exhibit B.Owner's Project Criteria <br /> 5 Testing and Validation <br /> 5.1 Special Inspections <br /> Inspections of materials, installations, fabrications, erection or placement of components <br /> or connections may require special expertise to ensure compliance with the approved <br /> construction documents and referenced standards. <br /> It is the Design-Builder's responsibility to ensure that the correct materials and <br /> equipment are being provided and that the workmanship are being completed as <br /> required by the design documents and all applicable codes. Design-Builder shall hire a <br /> City approved special inspections firm to conduct special inspections as required by the <br /> design documents and all applicable codes, and/or as negotiated with the City. <br /> 5.2 Consistency with Design Requirements <br /> The Engineer of Record shall observe and validate that materials meet design <br /> specifications. <br /> 5.3 Inspections of Completed Work <br /> Design-Builder shall afford the City the opportunity and access to conduct post-repair <br /> inspections of all work, including testing to confirm repairs are sound and adhere to <br /> existing materials. <br /> 5.4 Infrastructure Cleaning and Disinfection <br /> Before conducting system testing, or filling repaired or replaced infrastructure with <br /> water, or otherwise placing site infrastructure into service, Design-Builder shall submit <br /> cleaning and disinfection procedures for the City's review and approval. Submitted <br /> procedures will follow AWWA C651/C652 as a guideline and be modified as needed for <br /> the work. All materials used for cleaning of potable water tank and system interiors shall <br /> conform to the applicable requirements of ANSI/NSF 60 and 61. <br /> Following cleaning, Design-Builder shall arrange for Owner's Representative to inspect <br /> and verify that cleaning requirements have been met. <br /> Design-Builder shall coordinate disinfection of site infrastructure and refill with the <br /> Owner's Representative. The City will conduct disinfection and operate valves, gates, <br /> and other system elements as necessary during refill and disinfection operations. <br /> Page 15 of 16 <br />
