Whe� eave vents are installed, <br />baflling o( Ihe vent openings shall ba provided so as ta <br />deflect the Incoming air above Ihe suAace of the Insulation. <br />W here Iighling fiutures are recessed inlo a suspended or <br />exposed grid ceiling, lhe rooViceiling assembly shall be <br />insulated in a Iocation olher ihan directly on ihe suspended <br />celling. <br />EXCEPTION: Type IC rdted recessed Ilphtinp fiztures. <br />Where Installed in wood framing, faced batt Insulalion <br />shall be lace slapled. * <br />1317.3 Wall Insuletion: Ezterior wall cavities isolated <br />during framing shall be tully insulaled to lhe levels o1 lhe <br />surrounding walls. When fnstalled in wood (raming, taced <br />batt Insulatfon shall be tace stapled. <br />Abuve grade eMerior Insulation shall be protected. <br />1371.1 Floor Insulallon: Floor Insulalion shall be IncWlled <br />in a pertnanent manner in substantial conlacl wilh Ihe <br />suAace being insulaled. Insulatfon supports shall be <br />installed so spacing Is not more than 24 inches on cenler. <br />Inslalled fnsulalion shall nol block lhe airflow lhrough <br />toundation venls. <br />1317.5 Sleb-On-Greda Floor: Slab-on-grade Insulation <br />Installed inside �he toundallon wall shall eMend downward <br />Irom lhe top oi Ihe slab a minfmum dislance of 24 inches or <br />to Ihe top of Ihe fooling, whichever is less. Insulalion <br />installed outside the foundation shall extend downwarcl a <br />minimum o( 24 Inches or lo lhe frost Ilne, whichever Is <br />greater. Above gretle Insulation shall be prolecled. <br />EXCEPTION: For monolithic slabs, the InsulaUon shall <br />extend downward (rom Uie top ol the sleb to the bottom ot lhe <br />footing. <br />1311.6 Redlant Floon (on or below grade): Slab-on- <br />grade insulation shall exlend downward irom the top of the <br />slab a minimum distance o1 36 inches or downward to the <br />top of the footing and horizontel for an aggregate ot nol lass <br />than 36 inches. <br />If required by lhe building oKcial where soil conditions <br />warrant such insulation, lhe enlire area of a radiant Boor <br />shali be thertnatly Isolaled frorn lhe sofl.
