Side Sewer material: PVC
Depth of side sewer 10ft from house: 4'
DVD made of side sewer: Yes
Any additional comments:
• There is a floor drain at the back door (to the basement) which is tied into the
down spout drain lines.
Problems Identified
1) This home does not currently have a backwater valve to prevent backups during high
flow surcharge events.
Solution:
Install backwater valve. See attached site drainage and plumbing sketch for proposed
location.
2) Drain at back door to basement, is connected to down spouts. After installation of the
Back Water Valve the site drainage and sewer has the potential to back up through this
drain and flood the house through the back door.
•
4r.
-q2H
, till 6
Drain outside of door to basement
Solution:
Remove the 3 down spouts connected to the sewer and place the Back Water Valve
downstream of the connection for the floor drain. This will protect the floor drain from a
surcharge event. The down spouts must be disconnected, otherwise during a
surcharge event the water from the downspouts will be forced up through the floor and
into the basement.
3) 3 Downspouts are tied into the side sewer. This causes increased flow in the side
sewer.
Solution: Disconnect downspouts, extend 3' or more from foundation, and discharge to
splash block. Ensure portion of yard that splash blocks discharge to slopes away from
house.
