• <br /> • <br /> • <br /> CHAPTER VIII <br /> ACCIDENTS <br /> Section 131: COLLISION WITH UNATTENDED VEHIC A. The <br /> operator of any vehicle which collides with any other vehicle which <br /> is unattended shall immediately stop and shall then and there either <br /> locate and notify the operator or owner of such vehicle of the name <br /> and address of the operator and over of the vehicle striking the <br /> unattended vehicle or shall leave in a conspicuous place in the <br /> vehicle struck a written notice, giving the name and address of the <br /> operator and of the owner of the vehicle striking such other vehicle. <br /> Section 132: OWNER OF CAR DAMAGING PROPERTY MUST NOTIFY <br /> OWNER. The driver of any vehicle involved in an accident resulting <br /> only in damage to property fixed or placed upon or adjacent to any <br /> public highway shall take reasonable steps to locate and notify <br /> the owner or person in charge of such property of such fact and of <br /> the name and address of the operator and owner of' the vehicle striking <br /> such property, or shall leave in a conspicuous place upon the property <br /> struck a written notice, giving the name and address of the operator <br /> and of the owner of the vehicle so striking the property, and such <br /> person shall further make report of such accident as in the case <br /> of other accidents upon the public highways of this state. <br /> Section 133: DUTIES UPON INJURY TO ANI "AL. The operator <br /> of a vehicle involved in an accident resulting in injury or death <br /> to a dog or other animal shall immediately stop the vehicle at or <br /> as near to the scent of the accident as possible , and return thereto, <br /> and shall give to the owner or other competent person having <br /> custody of the animal the name and address of the operator of the <br /> vehicle and the registration number of the vehicle involved in the <br /> accident, and shall further make a report of such accident as in <br /> the case of other accidents upon the public highways. And, if the <br /> owner or such competent person having custody of the animal be not <br /> present at the scene of the accident, the operator of said vehicle <br /> shall take reasonable steps to locate the owner or custodian of said <br /> animal, and supply the information hereinabove required to be given. <br /> If the animal is injured to the extent that it requires immediate <br /> medical attention, and there be no owner or custodian present to <br /> look after it, the operator of said vehicle shall immediately notify <br /> the police department. In the event the animal is badly hurt and <br /> is suffering and the owner cannot be found, any member of the police <br /> department is authorized, in his discretion, to kill the animal <br /> and dispose of the body. <br /> Section 134: OPERATOR MUST REPORT ACCIDENT. The operator <br /> of any vehicle involved in an accident resulting in injury to or <br /> death of any person or total or claimed damage to either or both <br /> vehicles or property to an apparent extent of twenty-five ( e25.00) <br /> dollars or more, shall within twenty-four hours after such accident <br /> make a written report thereof in duplicate to the Chief of Police <br /> on forms to be furnished by him, the original of which report shall <br /> immediately be forwarded to the Chief of the Washington State Patrol <br /> at Olympia, Washington. Supplemental reports of such accident <br /> shall be furnished by the operator of any vehicle involved in an <br /> -39- <br />
