7i <br /> (c) Every person renting a motor vehicle to another <br /> i person shall keep a record of the vehicle license number of the <br /> motor vehicle so rented, the name and address of the person to whom <br /> the motor vehicle is rented, the number of the vehicle operator ' s <br /> license of the person renting the vehicle and the date and place <br /> i when and where such vehicle operator 's license was issued. Such <br /> 1 record shall be open to inspection by any peace officer or anyone <br /> acting for the director of licenses. <br /> Section 158: NON-RESIDENTS - WHEN LICENSE REQUIRED. <br /> I <br /> (a) A non-resident over the age of sixteen years who has <br /> been duly licensed as an operator under a law requiring the licensing <br /> 1 of operators in his home state or country and who has in his <br /> immediate possession a valid vehicle operator 's license issued to <br /> him in his home state or country shall be permitted without examin- <br /> 4 ation or vehicle operator 's license of this state to operate a <br /> imotor vehicle upon the highways of this state; <br /> (b) It shall be unlawful for any non-resident whose <br /> home state or country does not require the licensing of motor <br /> h vehicle operators to operate any motor vehicle upon any public high- <br /> way of this state without first making application for and obtaining <br /> a vehicle operator 's license in this state, except that said <br /> unlicensed non-resident over the age of sixteen years and who is <br /> the registered or legal owner of a motor vehicle and has a valid <br /> vehicle license for the current calendar year in the state or country <br /> of which the owner is a resident, may operate such motor vehicle <br /> i upon the public highways of this state for a period of not more <br /> �• than thirty (30) days in any one calendar year without making <br /> 1 application for or obtaining a vehicle operator 's license in this <br /> s, state, upon the condition that the motor vehicle shall at all times <br /> display the vehicle license number plate or plates issued therefore <br /> i, in the home state or country of such owner and that the non-resident <br /> h registered owner has in his immediate possession a license registr- <br /> ation certificate or similar evidence showing his vehicle ownership <br /> or registration in his home state or country. <br /> 1 Section 159: LICENSEE MUST ENDORSE NAME ON LICENSE - <br /> CARRY ON PERSON RILE OPERATING. <br /> (a) Every person licensed as a vehicle operator shall <br /> write his usual signature with pen and ink in th.e space provided <br /> i for that purpose on the vehicle operator ' s license certificate issued <br /> to him immediately upon receipt of such certificate and such <br /> license shall not be valid until the certificate is so signed; <br /> (b) The licensee shall have such vehicle operator 's <br /> license in his immediate possession at all times when operating a <br /> motor vehicle and shall display the same upon demand to any peace <br /> officer or to any other person when and if required by law to do so. <br /> Section 160: ILLEGAL USE OF OPERATOR'S LICENSE. It shall <br /> be unlawful for any person to commit any of the following acts: <br /> (a) To display or cause to permit to be displayed or <br /> have in possession any vehicle operator ' s license, knowing the same <br /> to be fictitious or to have been canceled, revoked, suspended <br /> or altered; <br /> -47- <br />
