•
Mr. Ruben Sanchez
City of Everett
Plan Check Number: B1812-022, Second Building Review
March 19, 2019
Gravity System:
5. This comment has not been completely addressed. See IEBC Section 106.2.1. The
following comments shall be addressed:
a. Detail 14/S.10 includes a section cut referencing this detail. Verify the correct reference
should be Section 15/S.10.
b. Note 4 in Detail 17/S.10 specifies locating the existing reinforcement prior to drilling.
Verify if Detail 14/S.10 and other details on this sheet should include this requirement.
6. No additional comment.
7. This comment has not been completely addressed. Verify if an end dimension should be
provided. See IEBC Section 106.2.1.
8. No additional comment.
9. This comment has not been completely addressed. The following comments shall be
addressed:
a. Calculations have been submitted for the supplemental connection. The load appears to
be applied incorrectly (i.e., downwards instead of upwards toward the top edge). The
direction of loading shall be verified. Revised calculations substantiating the connection
shall be submitted as needed. Note that the"concrete edge failure" mechanism appears
to be 100% utilized (i.e., DCR=1.0) for the current direction of loading. Loading in the
opposite direction is anticipated to yield a DCR>1.0.
b. No additional comment.
10.This comment has not been completely addressed. Detail 13/S.10 specifies replacement of
the support connection for precast beam. See IBC Sections 1604.1 and 1604.4. The
following comments shall be addressed:
a. Calculations substantiating the design of the connection shall be submitted for review.
The calculation package does not appear to include the design of this connection as
indicated by the response.
b. The proposed FRP confinement includes inward angles that do not appear effective at
remaining in tension. Verify if the FRP should be wrapped around the column, or at
least the sides, and the corners filled (e.g., non-shrink grout, etc.) to maintain tension in
the FRP and provide the required confinement to resist breakout failure of the proposed
connection.
O 3200 Cedar Street 425.257.8800 0 everettpw@everettwa.gov
Everett,WA 98201 425.257.8882 fax everettwa.gov
1
