• •
that accessible improvements are not limited to providing van accessible spaces. Other
accessible spaces shall be improved to meet current requirements, or other inaccessible
features shall be improved, as required by IEBC Section 705.2. Improvements may
include, but are not limited to, restriping of other accessible spaces and adding signage.
The existing van accessible space is within the building footprint on the first level
and meets the current dimensions for van parking. Building clear height is 7'-0"and
is posted on an existing overhead limit pole at the entrances. ADA and Van parking
stall striping on the fourth floor have been dimensioned on the revised plans A1.11
and A 1.12. These dimensions replace the detail E4/A1.11.
4. Sheet A1.11 shows new accessible spaces on both sides of the elevator core. See IBC
Section 1101.2The following comments shall be addressed:
a. The boundary of the spaces immediately adjacent to the core is not defined.
Striping consistent with Detail E4/A1.11 shall be shown to confirm that the required
minimum dimensions are provided. See 107.2.1.
Existing ADA stall layout meets or exceeds the minimum required
dimensions shown on Detail E4/A1.11.
b. The minimum accessible clearance shall be provide between the elevator entrance
and the adjacent parking space. See ICC A117.1-09 Section 304 and Chapter 4.
Existing parking layout exceeds the 60"minimum clearance required.
c. The locations of the van-accessible spaces shall be specified on the plans.
See response to comment#3 above.
This comment has not been completely addressed. Sheet A1.11 shows new accessible
spaces on both sides of the elevator core. See IBC Section 1101.2 and Comment 3 above
for additional information The following comments shall be addressed:
a. The boundary of the spaces immediately adjacent to the core is not defined.
Striping consistent with Detail E4/A1.11 shall be shown to confirm that the required
minimum dimensions are provided. See 107.2.1.
Boundary lines are shown for the parking stalls adjacent to the elevator on
the revised plans.
b. No additional comment.
c. The locations of the van-accessible spaces shall be specified on the plans. See
revised plan for dimensions on van accessible and ADA stalls and the
addition of a "VAN ACCESSIBLE" sign, mounted on the wall below the
existing ADA sign as noted on the plan and new detail A2/A1.13.
5. Detail E4/A1.11 specifies the access aisle on the driver-side of the van-accessible parking
space. The aisle shall be located on the passenger-side for angled parking spaces. See
IBC Section 1101.2 and ICC A117.1-09 Section 502.4.1.
This comment has not been addressed. The original comment stated that Detail E4/A1.11
specifies the access aisle on the driver-side of the van-accessible parking space instead
of the passenger-side as required for angled parking spaces. The detail has been revised
to eliminate the van-accessible space. However, striping for van-accessible spaces is
required per Comment 3 above. The detail shall be revised as stated in the original
comment. See IBC Section 1101.2 and ICC A117.1-09 Section 502.4.1.
 I
