His apartment was filled with 5 heated blowers under the carpet and was unlivable. The carpet
had been soaked with sewage and there was no plan to clean or remove this carpet. The
temperature from the blowers in his apartment was unbearable along with the smell. On
Friday and Saturday John went into his apartment and began hauling soaked furniture to the
dumpster. Most of the wood items were particle board and had significant water damage. His
stereo and alarm clock were also on the floor and soaked In water. John had many DVD's and
Xbox games that were on the floor and on lower shelves which were soaked in water.
Washington Vocational Services continued to consult with Evergreen Apartments landlord and
Williams Corporation to try to get John moved to a new apartment as his was unlivable. On
Monday John had no options for temporary housing and Evergreen apartments was offering no
options for a different apartment. WVS called and asked a family member If John could stay for
a few days. On 9/5 John was told by the landlord that they had a new apartment for him to
move into on an upper floor. On 9/6 WVS was able to put a team of volunteers together to
move his belongings to the new apartment. John had to leave his couch behind as it was still
water soaked. John had taken all wood items to the dumpster at this time. The volunteers
assisted John to get any remaining trash, damaged furniture and belongings out of apartment
A-19.
John is now in a safe clean apartment and we thank Evergreen for allowing him to move. John
states that Evergreen apartments is also giving him one week free rent.
Washington Vocational Services assisted John Hell throughout this time as he does not have the
ability to know what to do in this case. John also has no family support available. WVS staff did
not take pictures of the water damaged furniture before John took them to the dumpster but
did see that the items listed were beyond repair. I have taken some pictures of the remaining
items and made notes on each.
Thank you for considering assistance to John for his losses. If you have any additional questions
I would be happy to answer them for you,as myself and my Director Bill Munson worked
closely with John during this time to get him back into a safe place.
Sincerely,
Bretta Williams/Program Director
Washington Vocational Services
111 SE Everett Mall Way Bldg.C Ste.100
Everett,WA 98208
425-320-7523
2
f
