Structural Design Sep
tru£.tuf l D--xsi(03 Dmitriy Penzin, PE
Is,, r,d , t,,o, )11%111 1111 (425)606-05 83
info@structuraldesignshop.com
City of Everett
ATTN: Rakeeb Khan,Residential Plans Examiner I EC E O VE
PROJECT: Pimentel House Addition ..01 JI
PROJECT#
CITY OF EVERETT
RE: Permit Servica S
Response to Correction Notice#1
Dear Rakeeb,
This letter is a response to structural comments provided by you for"Pimentel House Addition". The numbering
below corresponds to the numbering in the correction notice:
1. Structural special inspections should be required for this project(post installed anchors). A
statement on special inspections has not been provided and should be provided on the plans.
The statement should include a table listing each type of special inspection and should specify
the extent of each inspection (e.g., continuous, periodic) per IBC Section 1704.3.1. The table
should indude special requirements for seismic and wind resisting systems as required by IBC
Sections 1704.3.2 and 1704.3.3, respectively. See IBC Sections 107.1, 1704.2.3, 1.704.3,Table
1705.3
Response:
Please refer to revised sheet S 1.1 for special inspection requirements. Special inspections are not required for
wind and seismic resisting systems per exemptions 1705.11.1 and 1705.12.2 of IBC 2018. Fasteners spacing
exceeds 4"o.c.
2. It is unclear if strengthening of the existing framing is required such that the framing is capable
of supporting the proposed overframing with required design snow load. Please verify if
strengthening is required. Please provide structural calculations and revise drawings if
necessary. IBC 1604.
Response:
Additional weight from overframing is estimated to be: 1.6PSF(PLYWOOD)+ 1.7PSF(RAFTERS)=3.3 PSF.
It is common practice to design roof for 15 psf dead load while the actual weight is close to 12 psf. Considering
a moderate extent of overframing it is reasonable to ignore the additional weight. Snow load also provides few
PSFs of additional capacity based on the fact that residential designers use 25 PSF for snow load instead of
0.7*Ce*Ct*Is*Pg=0.7*1.2*1.1*1*15 = 13.9 PSF per ASCE 7-16.
Sincerely, „toy Pgk„
Dmitriy Penzin,PE 7
Structural Design Shop O, •
07/29/2021 '
EXP. 07/17/2022 `tONAL
