• For a detailed LPILE analysis, we should be contacted to provide specific input soil
parameters or to review input parameters and to participate in the pile design along with
project structural engineers, as deemed necessary.
• All helical piers must be installed in strict accordance with manufacturer's recommendations
and general industry standards. AGS representative must continuously inspect anchor
installation to assure that all design requirements are met.
• Provided all our design and installation recommendations are followed, and all the drainage
recommendations given in the original geotechnical report are followed, we estimate total
movement or heave for foundations designed and constructed as discussed in this section
will be 1.00 inches or less, with differential movements on the order of one-half to three-fourths
of the total settlement. If the estimated differential movement is not tolerable for the lightly
loaded structures, then we should be contacted to provide specific site modification
recommendations.
• It should be noted that structural engineering or foundation design of any kind was beyond
our scope of services. The project structural engineer should design the foundation mitigation
measures, including axial and lateral stability, based on the recommendations given in this
report.
• The project specifications should allow for modifications by geotechnical engineer during the
pier installation.
• The contractor should mobilize proper equipment so that pier installation in inaccessible
areas, in unanticipated hard or very dense or cobbly materials can be achieved to required
depths. The contractor should carefully review this report to account for all possibilities and
extras in their bid to avoid high cost overruns.
LIMITATIONS
Historically, with construction in areas such as the site vicinity, there is an inherent risk associated
with ground movement and/or settlements and related structural damage due to poor design, an
earthquake, potential soil creep due to excessive moisture, or otherwise. The owner is completely
responsible for taking all risks associated with any future potential for instability at the site or in
the site vicinity, unless a detailed geotechnical evaluation is performed with a lot more exploration
and comprehensive assessment of the close proximity of bay to the site. It should be noted that
the detailed evaluation of the impact of flooding or adjacent bay, or slopes in the site vicinity area
was beyond our scope of services.
