I <br /> 1 <br /> 2 3. Field Verification Testing Process. The Contracting agency will collect three 111 <br /> 3 Production Samples of HMA on the first day of paving per AASHTO T 168 sampling <br /> 4 procedures. <br /> 5 I 6 a. The Contracting agency will test one Production Sample in accordance <br /> 7 with section 5-04.3(8)A for field verification per the requirements of <br /> 8 Section 9-03.8(7). <br /> 9 b. If the test results from the first Production Sample are within the I <br /> 10 tolerances of section 9-03.8(7), the mix design will be considered <br /> 11 verified and the test results will be used as acceptance sample number <br /> 12 one. <br /> 13 c. If the test results from the first Production Sample are outside the <br /> 14 tolerances of section 9-03.8(7), the other two samples will be tested and <br /> 15 the results of all three tests will be used for acceptance in accordance I <br /> 16 with Section 5-04.5(1) and will be used in the calculation of the CPF the <br /> 17 maximum CPF shall be 1.00. <br /> 18 <br /> 19 4. Prior to the first day of paving, six Ignition Furnace Calibration Samples shall be <br /> 20 obtained to calibrate the Ignition Furnaces used for acceptance testing of the HMA. <br /> 21 Calibration samples shall be provided by the Contractor when directed by the <br /> 22 Engineer. Calibration samples shall be prepared in accordance with WSDOT SOP <br /> 23 728. <br /> 24 <br /> 25 5-04.3(8)A ACCEPTANCE SAMPLING AND TESTING— HMA MIXTURE <br /> 26 <br /> 27 Section 5-04.3(8)A1 of the Standard Specifications is deleted and replaced with the <br /> 28 following: I <br /> 29 <br /> 30 5-04.3(8)A1 GENERAL <br /> 31 <br /> 32 Nonstatistical evaluation will be used for the acceptance of all HMA for this <br /> 33 project. <br /> 34 <br /> 35 The 18-kip-Equivalent Single Axle Load (ESAL) for mix design purposes is 12 <br /> 36 million. <br /> 37 <br /> 38 The mix design will be the initial JMF for the class of HMA. The Contractor may III <br /> 39 request a change in the JMF.
