SHKSARCHITECTS
Correction Response — BUILDING/STRUCTURAL
To Jeff Heilman and James Bronder
City of Everett Permit Services
3200 Cedar 98Str201 1E2LII n „!Everett, WA 98201 `'J//From Jordan Inman2
0 2020
Date 06/05/2020 C I TY O F E 1lE R E TT
Project Project#B2004-039 Permit Services
Baugh-Floyd Addition
Re: Correction Notice#1
Jeff and James,
Attached please find a written response to the building and structural review comments. The drawing
revisions have been clouded.
BUILDING/STRUCTURAL
1. Below grade walls can be insulated with minimum R-21 on the interior, R-15 continuous insulation on
the interior, R-5 continuous rigid insulation on the interior with minimum R-13 insulation in a furred wall
cavity or R-10 rigid insulation on the exterior from the top of the footing to the top of the concrete wall.
The plans call out R-15 on the plan view(although not designated as continuous), and the section
drawing shows R-10 Rigid insulation. The Wall Section 12 on sheet A3.3 shows Please correct the
plans to clearly define which option you are proposing to use.
The note on A2.0 -Basement Floor Plan has been revised to show continuous R-5 rigid
insulation, with a minimum R-13 furred-out stud wall.
Wall section 12/A3.3 has been revised to show R-5 rigid insulation with a minimum R-13
furred-out stud wall.
2. Several windows that meet the criteria specified in section R308.4.3 Glazing In Windows are not shown
as tempered safety glass in the window schedule. Please verify the area of glazing and designate
required safety glass as applicable.
After reviewing the proposed windows in reference to R308.4.3, I found that window W203
does indeed require safety glazing; W203 has been revised to indicate safety glazing in A2.2—
Second Floor Plan and the Window Schedule.
Window W106, while indicated as "SG" in plan view, was not indicated as such in the
schedule; the Window Schedule has been revised to indicate safety glazing for W106.
There are several windows that meet some of the requirements in R308.4, but not all.The
following are comments on windows I have found do not require safety glazing:
- Window W102 and similar size casements (W104, W108,W202,W205) have a
glazing area of 7.1 SF, less than the 9 SF listed in R308.4.3.Therefore, safety
glazing is not required in these units.
1050 N. 38th St.
Seattle, WA 98103
PH: 206.675.9151
FAX 206.675.9150
www.shksarchitects.com
