SECTION 2 - SPECIFICATIONS
2.1 INTENT
The City of Everett received a Washington State Department of Ecology grant to improve the water
quality in the stormwater runoff at four different outfall locations within the city.
2.2
The City of Everett is seeking a supplier to provide Bio Clean Modular Wetlands° System (MWS) Linear
units for an upcoming project. The MWS must be manufactured to meet site constraints and match
proposed elevations and pipe configurations.
The proposed units must be delivered to the project site ready to be installed in accordance with the
manufacturer's recommended installation procedures. The City of Everett will be responsible for
installation of the MWS units.
BACKGROUND
The Bio Clean Modular Wetlands° System Linear unit was selected to meet the needs of the city as a part
of an Ecology Grant project. The purpose of the project is to improve water quality in Port Gardner Bay
through design and installation of MWS — Liner Stormwater Treatment Systems at four or more outfalls in
the City of Everett. These systems will treat stormwater runoff from approximately 20 acres of pollution -
generating impervious surfaces with the area.
Modular Wetlands° Linear systems are a biofiltration system that use a patented horizontal flow to treat
stormwater, which improves performance, reduces footprint, and minimizes maintenance. The MWS
Linear replicates natural processes to remove a variety of pollutants from stormwater runoff including
fine total suspended solids (TSS), bacteria, oils, and grease, as well as heavy metals and harmful nutrients
like nitrates and phosphorus.
The Bio Clean Modular Wetland System Linear unit has been Washington State Technology Assessment
Protocol — Ecology (TAPE) for General Use Level Designation (GULD) for the MWS-Linear Modular Wetland
Stormwater Treatment System for Basic, Phosphorus, and Enhanced treatment.
2.3 SPECIFICATIONS
Based on the site restraints, the Modular Wetland System -Linear Structure must meet the following
requirements:
A. Modular Wetland System (MWS) - Linear:
1. Unit must be a Modular Wetland vault type system.
2. Unit must include required filter media for operation.
3. Unit and all its components, including filter media, must be self-contained within the concrete
structure.
a. Filter media must be located at least 2" from the structure walls.
4. Unit must be constructed of concrete with a minimum 28-day compressive strength of 5,000
psi.
5. Reinforcement must conform to ASTM A 615 (rebar) or ASTM A 706 (welded wire), Grade 60
rebar and supports.
6. Access hatches be H-20 load -rated and must require less than 50 pounds of force to open.
7. Unit must include utility anchors to move around the jobsite with a crane.
