Project summary statement: The Gazebo has been identified as a centerpiece of Clark Park for generations and is beloved by the Bayside neighborhood. It's location near downtown has provided residents with a place to enjoy sunny summer days and bright fall foliage. Staff has identified structural deficiencies that require major repairs to structural columns, fascia, roofing, railings, and failing foundation. Additional work required will be to install a decorative sliding locked shutter system, an outward opening full height locking double door, an ADA compliant ramp, and repairs to surrounding landscape. These required repairs would allow reserved access to users and with features related to the architecture of the gazebo. The gazebo would be further utilized, especially during the summer months to host community outings. Residents routinely fill up the space with themed decorations to different holidays. Architectural and engineering services will provide plans and specifications necessary to convey the scope of work to bidding contractors. Upon completion of the design plans, specifications, and engineer's estimate. Staff will return and amend the Ordinance to capture all project costs. Recommendation (exact action requested of Council): Adopt an Ordinance creating a special construction project entitled "Clark Park Gazebo Renovation", Fund 354, Program 078, to accumulate costs for the project in the amount of $30,000.
