A budget amendment will <br />follow grant approval. <br />Project summary statement: <br />The Governor and the Legislature have made grant funding available for all counties, <br />and cities planning under the Growth Management Act, in advance of their upcoming <br />comprehensive plan and development regulation "periodic updates," required <br />under RCW 36.70A.130(5). <br />Starting July 1, 2022, counties and cities with a 2024 deadline are eligible to receive the <br />first half of their grant, with the second half coming the following year. <br />Recommendation (exact action requested of Council): <br />Authorize staff to apply for the Comprehensive Plan Periodic Update Grant provided by the State <br />Department of Commerce and further authorize the Mayor to sign the contract and all necessary <br />grant paperwork to execute the grant. <br />
