No <br /> as stoves shall be used which are not directly connected with an <br /> outside roo :_, and all gas connections shall be of a metal type. <br /> All rooms and wards shall have adequate natural lighting <br /> In addition artificial lighting shall be sufficient and well placed <br /> for comfortable reaoinv. Adequate lighting in the halls and bath- <br /> rooms shall be required both day and night. <br /> tVindow space shall not be less than one-fifth of the <br /> floor space. All windows shall have openings adequate to provide <br /> necessary ventilation. they shall be screened and shall be fitted <br /> with shields ana plates to protect patients from direct currents <br /> of air. <br /> All wards and rooms shall be of sufficient size to allow <br /> at least 6eventy (70) square feet of floor space for each adult <br /> patient, with at least Three (3) feet of space between all beds. <br /> All bea ridden patients shall not be housed above the <br /> ground floor. <br /> All other patients shall not be housed above the second <br /> story unless adequate fire escapes are provided and then only in <br /> accordance with the patient's illness and disability. Basement <br /> rooms, in addition to meeting requirements as to light, floor <br /> space, ana ventilation, must have specific approval of the City <br /> health Department before occupancy is authorized. <br /> All bathrooms shall be equipped with sanitary toilets, <br /> wash basins, and bathing facilities. A safe and sanitary supply <br /> of both hot and cold water shall be available in all bathrooms. <br /> o common drinking cups shall be allowed. There shall be provided <br /> in either the room, ward, or other convenient place adequate <br /> closet or locker and drawer space, and a towel rack with clean <br /> towels and wash cloths for the exclusive use of each patient. <br /> Bed linen shall be changed sufficiently often to be <br /> fresh and clean. Blankets shall be cleaned periodically. Fresh <br /> bedding and linens shall be supplied to each new patient. All <br /> sheets shall completely cover the mattress, and tuck in at least <br /> Four (4) inches on all sides. <br /> If a municipal water supply is not available, the water <br /> supply shall be of such type as to meet the requirements of the <br /> State Department of health. <br /> drhen a municipal sewer system is not available, a method <br /> of sewage disposal must be provided which meets the approval of <br /> the City health officer. All plans for the authorization of new <br /> construction of sewer plants shall be submitted to the City Health <br /> Officer for approval. <br /> All contagious and infectious diseases shall be compleT y <br /> isolated from other patients according to the regulations of the <br /> State Board of Health. All pus cases must be isolated from other <br /> patients who have open wounds. <br /> -2- <br />
