The premium rate shall be a minimum of 5%above the employee's current base salary or the <br /> lowest step in the higher classification, whichever is greater. <br /> Classification seniority shall not control out-of-class assignments. <br /> B. Lead Pay <br /> Lead Pay comprising of a 5%increase above the individual's current base salary shall be paid: <br /> a) To an individual who is formally assigned by their supervisor to be a working crew leader of <br /> at least 2 other employees of a lower classification unless those duties are identified in the <br /> individuals current class specification. <br /> b) To an individual who is formally assigned by their supervisor to be a working crew leader of <br /> another employee in the same classification. <br /> Duties shall include directing and problem solving for assigned crew,identifying task <br /> assignments,resolving immediate on-site conflicts. <br /> Classification seniority shall not control lead assignments. <br /> Lead pay intended to be used on a long term or permanent basis must be agreed upon with the <br /> Union. <br /> C. Blacktop Raker/Pipelayer Pay <br /> When a Utility Laborer is assigned the task of Blacktop Raker,the employee will receive a one- <br /> step increase for the time so assigned or for the time specifically required to perform such an <br /> assignment. When a Utility Laborer is assigned the task of Water or Sewer Pipelayer on a new or <br /> renewal construction project,the employee will receive a one-step increase. <br /> D. Commercial Driver's License Pay <br /> Employees in the utility laborer classification that are deemed by the department Head or <br /> designee as beneficial to have a commercial driver's license shall receive compensation in <br /> accordance with the attached MOU.This will be a pilot program that will end with the contract <br /> unless agreed upon by City and Union to continue the MOU. <br /> E. Interpretation/Translation Pay <br /> When an employee is certified by an agency acceptable to the City in a language other than <br /> English,the employee will receive a five percent premium above their regular rate for all time <br /> engaged to interpret or translate,paid in increments of 15 minutes. <br /> F. Instructor Pay <br /> Employees who are trained and certified to instruct on a topic deemed necessary by the <br /> department director or designee,shall receive a 5%premium for all hours engaged in instructing. <br /> This includes formal instruction and evaluation of the student's skills using standardized <br /> materials provided by a 3rd party or by the department designee.This does not apply to on-the- <br /> 21 <br />
