Section 24: The appointment of all employees in all Departments where required by the City Charter shall be made subject to Civil Service regulations of the City of Everett , PFOITIDED, in the event vacancies occur and there is no eligibility list from which said vacancy nay be filled temporary appointments may be ma de of persons without Civil Service standing. The Assistant City Attorney and the Stenographer in the City .ttorney Depart »ent shall be appointed by the City r:ttorney. The City Clerk shell be ex officio secretary of the Civil Service Commission. The Assistant and Special Examiners in the Civil Service Department shall be appointed by the Civil .service Commission. the Clerk of the Police Court Department shall be appointed by the Police Justice. The officers, assistants end employees in the Depart- ment of Finance shell be appointed by the Commissioner of Finance . Zhe officers, assistants and employees of the Depart- ment of Safety shell be appointed by the Commissioner of Safety. The officers , assistants End employees in the Depart- ment of Public 'works shall be appointed by the Commissioner of Public 'ys"orks. Section 25: That on s.nd after the 1st day of January, 194t , the salaries and compensations to be paid to the officers, assistants, deputies and employees of the City of Everett shall be as in this ordinance provided.
