Section 3: 'filet said Ordinance No . 2734 be amended by adding thereto e section to be known es Section 50 , which section shall read as follows: Section 50: Drive on tight Side of Highway.-- Whenever any person is operating any vehicle upon any public highway of the City of ±verett, he shall at all times drive the same to the right of the center of such highway, except when in the exercise of care in the overtaking and passing of another vehicle traveling in the same direction, or where en obstruction exists, it is necessary to drive to the left of the center of such highway, providing the same is done with due care and right of way is extended to vehicles traveling in the proper direction upon the unobstructed portion of the public highway. Section 4: That said Ordinance No. 2734 be amended by adding thereto a section to be known a s Section 51, which section shall read as follows: Section 51: Overtaking a Vehicle. - - xny person driving a vehicle upon any public highway of the City of Nverett and overtaking' another vehicle proceeding in the same direction shall pass to the left of such overtaking vehicle: Provided, That it shall be unlawful for any person to pass any vehicle overtaken unless he shall have a clear and unobstructed view ahead for a distance sufficient for safe passing, all factors considered. Any person ti4.iving a vehicle upon any public high- way and being overtaken/any vehicle proceeding in the same direction shall keep to the extreme right-hand side of such public highway and shall not accelerate his speed nil the overtaking vehicle shall have resumed a driving position and speed ahead of him. ?he overtaking vehicle shall drive clear of the overtaken vehicle end shall continue its overtaking speed until it has passed the overtaken vehicle end shall have resumed its driving position to the right of such public high- way. No person driving any vehicle upon any public highway shall overtake another vehicle for the purpose of passing with- out first signaling his intention to pass by use of the horn or other sounding device. Section 5: That said Ordinance No. 2734 be amended by adding thereto e section to be known as Section 52 , which section shall read as follows: Section 52: Overtaking and Passing on Right Hand Side -- When -- . The operator of a vehicle may overtake and pass another vehicle proceeding in the same direction, on the right-hand side of such overtaken vehicle, when such overtaken vehicle is making, or the operator thereof has signaled intention to make , a left-hand turn; Provided, Such passing to the right may be done safely in the exercise of due caution and upon the proper driving portion of the roadway.
