SIC MA
4285 CR 3270
Kempner, TX 76539
501 358 2112
ben@sigmacoaching.com
Spouses who may not be covered under the departmental funding model are welcome to
participate. For convenience, Sigma Tactical Wellness can accept Flexible Spending Accounts
as a form of payment.
Sigma HeartStart Program
HeartStart is specifically designed for individuals not wishing to undergo the full on -site
screening experience (above) and/or for those wishing to participate without coordination
through their department or agency, but who still desire to experience Sigma's proven
methodologies in detection of early -stage heart disease.
HeartStart includes the following components:
• Advanced lipid panel including cardiac inflammatory biomarker analysis — also includes
overview of hematology, liver/kidney function, thyroid, PSA (men), HbA1c (diabetes)
• 20min Consultation with a mid -level clinician (Advanced -practice nurse/practitioner or
physician's assistant)
• 45min Consultation with Registered Dietician (with coordination from Quest Diagnostics)
COST: $299.00
Estimated Cost Savings component
As an example, in a population of 200 police officers, based on our observed results,
approximately 100 will have evidence of coronary artery disease, 80-160 will be clinically obese
and approximately 60 will have evidence of undiagnosed hypertension and or diabetes.
The Commission of the Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) has placed the
cost of an in-service heart attack between $450,000- $750,000. If assuming only 10% of the 100
officers with detected coronary plaque experience disease progression resulting in a heart
attack within 5 years (low estimate), the total cost to the tax -payers ranges between $4.5 million
to $7.5 million.
Based upon calculations from the 2019 Society of Actuaries, if the cost of untreated obesity is
factored into the five-year analysis, there is an additional $1.22 million associated with overall
health care, workmanship compensation, and disability cost.
Aside from the obvious cost -savings inherent in cardiovascular prevention, we have
documented a 28% reduction in body fat percentage in overweight individuals, and a 29%
reduction in body fat percentage in obese individuals (as much as 401bs weight loss in some
cases within compliant individuals). Most of the weight reduction is seen within the first 12
months of program adherence.
Total Cost Savings (200 officers) = $5.7m — $8.7m over 5 years
