Courts. <br /> In all buildings hereaftererecled or structurally <br /> altered, all windows sip ll open upon C yd, court , street or <br /> alley as hereafter provided. In no event shall any yard or <br /> court be re- de to serve two (2 ) buildings hereafter erected , or <br /> an existing buildingand a building hereafter erected . <br /> Every court shall be open and unobstructed to the <br /> sky from a point not more than two (2) feet above the floor <br /> line of the lowest story in a building in which there are <br /> windows from Zooms or apartments abutting the said court and <br /> served by the said court, except theta cornice, belt course <br /> or similar porje cti on on the building nnay extend into en "outer <br /> court" two (2) inches for each foot in width of such court, and <br /> may extend into en "inner court" one (1) inch for each such foot <br /> in width of such court ; provided , fur the r, that a cornice or <br /> similar projection may extend any distance desired into a court <br /> provided the minimum unobstructed width of the court is <br /> maintained. <br /> INNER COURT: Ln inner c our t shall be of e <br /> width of not less than four (4) feet, nor less than sixteen per <br /> cent (165) of the court height, provided further, that in no case <br /> sha 11 a width of more than twenty (20 ) feet be required. A <br /> minimum court length of one and one-half (1 ) times the court <br /> width is required. <br /> OUTER COURT: An out er co ur t shall be of a v. dth of <br /> not less than four (4) feet, nor less then ten percent (100) <br /> of the court height , provided further, that in no case shall <br /> a width of more than ten (10) feet be required. <br /> .DMINIST'RATI0N AND ESTFORC] ITT <br /> Section 14 . Interpretation and Application: <br /> 1. In interpreting end app lying the provi si ons o f <br /> this ordinance they she l 1 be held to be the minimum requir ement s <br /> for the promotion of the public health, safety, morals and <br /> general welfare ; therefore where this ordinance imposes a <br /> greater restriction upon the use of the buildings or prern_ises, <br /> or upon the heiMa.t of buildings, or requires larger open spaces <br /> then are imposed or required by other laws, ardinences, rules <br /> or regulations , the /providons of this ordinance shell control. <br /> 2. Furthermore , recognizing that there are certain <br /> uses of pro pe rty that y, or may not , be detrimental to the <br /> public health , safety, morals and general welfare, depending <br /> upon the facts of each particular case , a limited power to <br /> issue permits for such uses is vested, by specific mention in <br /> this ordinance , in th e .Cone issi on, sub je ct to review by the <br /> Council a s herein provided. Sub ject to such review the Coriiission <br /> (or the Oouncil on review) shell have power to place in such <br /> permit conditions or limit& ts.one ,in its judgment , required to <br /> secure adequate protection to the zone or locality in which the <br /> use is to be pen itted . Likewise subject to such review, the <br /> Commission (or the Council on review) she 11 have power to terminate <br /> any such pe rmit , upon comply i.nt end pub lic he a.ri ng , for any <br /> violation of the terms or limitations therein prescribed. <br /> -15- <br />
