• • <br /> for that period of time conforming to the limitation of parking <br /> time which has been or may be established for that area or zone <br /> of the street on which said parking meter is installed and shall <br /> continue to operate from the time of the deposit of such coin <br /> therein until the expiration of the time fixed as the parking <br /> limit for the part of the street upon which said meter is <br /> placed. Each said meter shall also be so arranged that upon <br /> the expiration of such legal parking time it will indicate by <br /> a mechanical operation and by proper signal that the lawful <br /> parking period has expired. <br /> Section 4: The Chief of Police is hereby instructe' <br /> to have lines or marks painted or placed upon the curb and/or <br /> upon the street adjacent to each parking meter for the purpose o <br /> designating the parking space for which said meter is to be <br /> used and each vehicle parking along side of or adjacent to any <br /> parking meter shall park within the lines or markings so es- <br /> taelished. It shall be unlawful and in violation of this <br /> ordinance to park any vehicle across such lines or markings or <br /> to park said vehicle in such position that the same shall not be <br /> entirely within the area so designated by such lines or markings <br /> Section 5 : When any vehicle shall be parked in any <br /> space along side of or next to which a parking meter is located <br /> and in accordance with the prov sions of this ordinance the <br /> operator of said vehicle shall upon entering said parking space <br /> immediately deposit or cause to be deposited a 5¢ coin for <br /> the maximum legal parking time limit or a l¢ coin for each <br /> one-fifth of the maximum limit of legal parking limit es- <br /> tablished for said zone except in 12 minute zones only a 1¢ <br /> coin shall be deposited to the maximum legal parking time limit. <br /> If said vehicle shall remain parked in any such space beyond <br /> the parking time limit fixed for such parking space or beyond <br /> the shorter periods established by this section for which the <br /> lesser amount specified herein has been deposited the parking <br /> meter shall display a sign or signal showingflLegal parking and <br /> in that event such vehicle shall be deemed to be parked over- <br /> time and beyond the time of legal parking time in any such <br /> part of the street wherein such meter is located and shall <br /> be unlawful and in violation, of this ordinance. <br /> Section 6: It shall be unlawful for any person <br /> to permit a. vehicle to remain parked overtime or beyond the <br /> legal parking tine established for any legal parking zone as <br /> herein described. <br /> Section 7 : It shall be unlawful and in violation <br /> of the provisions of this ordinance for any person to aeposit <br /> or cause to be deposited in any parking meter a 5¢ coin or a <br /> 1¢ coin for the purpose of increasing or extending the parking <br /> time of any vehicle beyond the legal parking time which has <br /> been established for a parking space adjacent to which said <br /> parking meter is placed. <br /> Section 8: It shall be the duty of each police <br /> officer assigned to traffic duty observing the violation of <br /> this ordinance to take the state vehicle license number of <br /> such vehicle , the time and date of such overparking and the <br /> make of such vehicle, and issue in writing a citation for il- <br /> legal parking in the form and subject to the sane prouedure <br /> provided for by the ordinances of the City of Everett applicabl <br /> to traffic violation within said City.
