Section 21: It is the purpose of this Ordinance to <br /> fix the number and description of the permanent assistants, <br /> deputies and employees in the various offices of the City of <br /> Everett, end nothing herein contained shall be construed so as to <br /> prevent the various officE.rs and various heads of the departments <br /> of the City of Everett from employing, with the consent of the <br /> City Council , such additional employees, as, from tine to time , <br /> may be necessary in the proper discharge of the duties of such <br /> officers, or from di scontinUing such temporary employees when the <br /> - necessity therefor has ceased to exist. <br /> Section 22: The appointment of all employees in all <br /> departments where required by the City Charter shall be made sub- <br /> ject to Civil Service regulations of the City of Everett. PROVIDEI, <br /> in the event vacancies occur and there is no eligibility list <br /> from which said vacancies may be filled temporary appointments ma <br /> be made of persons without Civil Service standing. <br /> 7''he Deputy City Attorney and the stenographer in the <br /> City Attorney Department shall be appointed by the City Attorney. <br /> The City Clerk shall be ex officio Secretary of the <br /> Civil Service Commission. <br /> The Assistant Examiner in the Civil Service Department <br /> shall be appointed by the Civil Service Commission. <br /> The Clerk of the Police Court Department shall be <br /> appointed by the Police Justice. <br /> The officers, assistants and employees in the Departnen' <br /> of Finance shall be appointed by the Commissioner of Finance. <br /> The Officers, assistants and employees in the Departrmen' <br /> of Safety shall be appointed by the Commissioner of Safety. <br /> The officers, assistants and employees in the Depart-fie/if <br /> of Public Works shall be appointed by the Commissioner of Public <br /> - orks. <br /> Section 23: That on and after the 1st day of <br /> January, 1942 , the salaries and compensations to be paid to <br /> the officers, assistants and employees of the City of Everett , <br /> herein speci 'ied, shall be as in this ordinance provided, to-wit : <br /> Section 24: CITY ATTOR1TEY DEPI RTI-TriT?T: <br /> V <br /> City Attorney 54 260.00 per o. <br /> ( ?200.00 of said monthly salary shall be <br /> charged to, and paid from, the General <br /> Expense fund and :A0 .00 per month of <br /> said salary shall be charged to, and - <br /> paid from the Water System Fund ) . <br /> Stenographer 85.00 per o. <br /> Relief Stenographer (part time ) 50 .00 pef <br /> Section 25: CITY HJ1 T, DEPART. ,IT. <br /> 135.00 per mo. <br /> Janitor <br /> 125.00 per mo. <br /> Assistant Janitor <br />
