S QUANTUM I CONSULTING ENGINEERS
October 18, 2018
Drew Martin
City of Everett
Public Services Department
3200 Cedar Street
Everett, WA 98201
Subject: Plan Check#C1802-019—10725 19`'Avenue SE
Quantum Project#18038.02
Dear Drew:
We have received the correction notice on the above-referenced project dated September 26, 2018. Below
are our responses to the structural comments. All changes to the drawings due to a plan check comment
have been clouded on the drawings.
* * * * *
STRUCTURAL CORRECTIONS
General:
1. This comment has not been completely addressed. The Special Inspection Schedule in Note 13
on Sheet S1.0 should be revised to include geotechnical special inspections. See IBC Table
1705.6.
See updated special inspection table on S1.0 including the geotechnical inspections.
Gravity System:
8. This comment has not been completely addressed. The response states that the cantilever floor
joists support the gravity loading, including the third floor wall and roof tributary loads, while the
B2 beam transfers reaction from the discontinuous shear walls. See IBC Sections 1604.1, 1604.4,
and 1613.1. The following comment should be addressed:
a. The following should be addressed for the joists:
i. The manufacturer's literature for the floor joists indicates that they are limited to a
maximum cantilever length of 24 inches. It appears this limit may apply to the tabulated
conditions provided in the literature. Additional information should be provided
verifying that the joists can perform in negative bending for the loads and length shown
in the drawings.
1511 THIRD AVENUE
SUITE 323
SEATTLE,WA 98101
TEL 206.957.3900
FAX 206.957.3901
www.quantumce.com
