Microgrid Labs Inc. was founded in 2014 as a consulting and software company specializing in clean
energy microgrids, and fleet electrification. The firm's primary focus in its nearly 9 years in business is to
provide consulting services and software tools exclusively for planning, designing, and operating electric
fleets and microgrids. MGL is based in Boulder, Colorado at 1200 Pearl St. Boulder, CO 80302, but the
firm's staff of 14 full time employees are located in the U.S. and internationally, including California, New York, North Carolina, and India.
MGL is a DBE-certified minority-owned company in Washington and is in the process of applying for DBE certification in other states.
The firm's software offerings are the product of years of joint research and development with support from leading entities like the
Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Lab (NREL), Lawrence Berkeley National Lab (LBNL), and the University of
California at Berkeley (UC Berkeley).
MGL’s expertise is in the optimization of entire fleet electrification systems. MGL specializes in mathematical modeling, simulation, and
optimization of vehicle deployment and charging to minimize the total cost of operation and risks in fleet electrification. The firm's
offerings include the unique ability to jointly model transportation and energy using MGL’s proprietary software, EVOPT, which Everett
Transit will have access to after the term of work is complete. MGL's competence in scenario analysis is backed by the firm's domain
expertise in electric vehicles, fleet operations, charging strategy development, charging infrastructure, and energy infrastructure
including onsite distributed energy resources (DER) and microgrids. This helps MGL to define a variety of operating scenarios and
model them to evaluate vehicle performance in a way that mitigates potential vehicle service and performance risks that tend to
occur during the transition to an all-electric fleet.
The International Transportation Learning Center (ITLC) is a
national nonprofit organization dedicated to improving public
transportation at the national level and within communities. It is
the only organization working nationally to develop joint labor-management training partnerships that improve organizational
performance, expand workforce knowledge, skills and abilities, and promote career advancement. ITLC convenes national joint
training committees for Bus Maintenance, Bus Operations, Transit Elevator-Escalator Maintenance, Signals Maintenance, Rail Car
Maintenance, and Traction Power Maintenance.ITLC has 22 years of experience working with transit agencies and their unions on a
wide variety of projects funded by US DOT, US DOL, TCRP among others. The organization has researched, written and published
resources around the human resources investments needed to support transit workers in transitioning to safe and efficient ZEB transit
operations, maintenance, and repair activities. ITLC is currently facilitating the development of ZEB Training Standards through the
APTA standards process
7
7
