w " . � r ORDINANCE No . 2897• 1 ORDINANCE providing for an emergency expenditure to cover extra expenses in the office of the City Clerk caused by extra heavy registration, and also to cover cost of legal advertising and maintenance ; also an emergency expenditure in the City Street Fund to cover extra construction, and in the Water System Fund due to emergency work required, and in the Engineer' s Office due to unusual and unanticipated local im- provement work, and in the Health Department for capital out- lay and maintenance and declaring an emergency. TEE CITY CF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: Section 1 : That a public emergency exists and the amount of the expenditure therefor could not have been reasonably foreseen at the time of making the budget for the year 1940, to-wit in October 1939. That said emergency has been caused in the City Clerk' s Office by reason of the fact that the registra- tion of voters was greater than had been anticipated and an addi- tional sum is requested to be appropriated for the purpose of paying salaries in connection therewith in the sum of $321.79 and due to the increased cost of legal advertising on maintenance an additional sum of 250.(_0 is required to be a: propriated for said purpose. Section 2 : That a public emergency exists and the amount of the expenditure therefor could not have been reasonably fore- seen at the time of making the budget for the year 1940, to-wit: in October 1939 . That said emergency has been caused in the City Engineer' s Office b: reason of the fact that more local improvements were made than were anticipated, necessitating the appropriation of an additional sum of �2300.00 for salaries in said office. Section 3 : That a public emergency exists and the amount of the expenditure therefor could not have been reasonably foreseen at the time of making the budget for the year 1940, to-wit: in the year 1939 . That said emergency has been caused in the health Depart- ment by reason of the fact that it became necessary to expend in said department for capital outlay the sum of 34.17 and for maintenance the sum of 4250.00. Section 4: That there is hereby appropriated out of the General Current Expense Fund of Everett for the purpose of paying the expenses above referred to, to-wit: 571.79 for the City Clerk' s Office ; -;2300.00 for the City Engineer' s Office ; . 284.17 for the Health Department, which sums shall be paid by the issuance of emergency warrants drawn on said General Current Expense Fund by the proper officers of the City of • verett as provided by law.
