• <br /> Ordinance No . 2997 <br /> Section 5 : That a public emergency exists and the <br /> amourttof the expenditure therefor could not have been <br /> reasonably foreseen at the time of the making of the budget <br /> for the year 1940, to-wit : In the year 1939. That said <br /> emergency has been caused in the Street Department because <br /> it was necessary to expend an additional amount for extra <br /> construction work not anticipated and drawing gas tax moneys <br /> ahead of the monthly schedule therefor, in the sum of <br /> 15, 000.00. That there is hereby appropriated out of the <br /> City Street Fund the sum of 15, 000.00, and said sum shall <br /> be paid by the issuance of emergency warrants drawn on the <br /> City Street Fund by the proper officers of the Uity of <br /> Everett as provided by law. <br /> Section 6: That a public emergency exists and the <br /> amount of the expenditure therefor could not have been <br /> reasonably foreseen at the time of the making of the budget <br /> for the year 1940, to-wit : in the year 1939 . That said <br /> emergency has been caused in the Water Department because <br /> it became necessary to expend additional funds that those <br /> appropriated on Lake Chaplain in the sum of 36, 000.00 for <br /> salaries in the :'pater Department. That there is hereby <br /> appropriated out of the Water System Fund the slue of '6, 000. <br /> for the payment of said salaries, which sum shall be paid <br /> by the issuance of emergency warrants drawn on such Water <br /> System Fund by the proper officers of the City of Everett <br /> as provided by law. <br /> Section 7 : That an emergency is declared to exist and <br /> this ordinance shall take effect upon its passage and publica- <br /> tion. <br /> Mayor . <br /> Attest : <br /> City Clerk . <br /> Passed: December 31st, 1940. <br /> Published: December 31st, 1940 . <br />
