CORRECTION RESPONSE LETTER 1 1111
3417 PLAN 3
Job Address: 423 Rockefeller
Plan Check No: C2007-013
5E©EDVE
DATE: 3.11.2021
James Bronder, PE, SE MAR 202.E
CITY OF EVERETT
Associate Engineer Plans Examiner Permit Services
Permit Services
3200 Cedar Street, 2nd Floor, Everett, WA 98201
CORRECTIONS/RESPONSES:
1. Sheet A2.0, plan notes indicate a dwelling-garage separation for walls. However,
it does not appear to contain notes for fire-resistive protection for the habitable
spaces above the garage. Please verify and revise notes and plans as required.
IRC Table R302.5.
RESPONSE: note added, sheet A2.0
1/2" GWB applied to the WALL garage side and
5/8" TYPE X GWB applied to CEILING garage side.
2. On Sheet A4.1, a glulam 5.125 x 15 or 6.75 x 13.5 is proposed to transfer both
gravity and overturning forces from the 2 nd floor shearwalls. The permit
calculations appear to show a gravity design load check, but does not appear to
verify that the proposed glulam can withstand a combination of overturning
forces in addition to the gravity load. Please verify that this beam and its
supporting construction are adequate to carry the load combination with lateral
load overstrength factors. Also, details to transfer the overturning forces from the
shearwall into the glulam beam appear to be missing. Please clarify the transfer
detailing for these conditions. ASCE 7-10 12.3.3.3, 12.4.3, IRC R106.1.1.
