The"Code Reference"section on Sheet G0.01 appears to indicate that the project is a Level 3 <br /> Alteration per IEBC Chapter 9. The following comments should be addressed: <br /> a. The project appears intended to comply with the Work Area Method per Section 301.1.2. <br /> This should be stated be stated in the general notes. <br /> b. The project involves both a Level 3 Alteration and an Addition per Chapter 11. Both types <br /> of work should be stated. The applicable chapters should be referenced. <br /> 2. The project includes new interior walls. Details for the construction of the walls and the <br /> connections to the foundation and ceilings should be included in the construction drawings. <br /> The walls and connections should be designed to resist loads per IBC Section 1607.14. <br /> Fire Protection: <br /> 3. The project is required to include a fire wall per the"Project Description"section on Sheet <br /> G0.01. The First Floor Plan on Sheet A2.03 shows the location of the fire wall within the <br /> addition. The design and detailing for the firewall does not comply with IBC Section 706. The <br /> following comments should be addressed: <br /> a. The wall is required to allow collapse of the structure on either side. The two-hour wall per <br /> GA File WP 1522 shown in the First Floor Plan on Sheet A2.03 does not comply. See <br /> Section 706.2. <br /> b. The wall should extend horizontally per Section 706.5, including extending to the outer <br /> edges of the roof overhangs per Section 706.5.2 <br /> c. The wall is required to extend from the foundation and extend a minimum of 30 inches <br /> above the roof per Section 706.6, or the construction shall comply with one of the <br /> exceptions. <br /> Accessibility: <br /> 4. The project involves both Level 2 Alterations and an Addition to the building per IEBC Chapters <br /> 8 and 11. Accessibility improvements per IEBC Section 705.2 should be included in the project. <br /> Where the building is made to be less than fully-accessible per one of the exceptions, <br /> documentation substantiating the limited accessibility improvements should be submitted for <br /> review. Where Exception 1 is used, the documentation should itemize the improvements and <br /> estimated cost of work associated with each item. See IEBC Sections 806.1 and 1105.1. <br /> 5. The First Floor Plan on Sheet A2.03 includes a ramp between the existing east building and the <br /> addition. The following comments should be addressed: <br /> a. The ramp has an approximate 15-inch clear distance between the top and doors for Rooms <br /> 107 and 110. A minimum 60-inch landing is required between the ramp and doors.
