Section 20: The following named officers, assist- ants and employees, unless otherwise provided by the City Charter, shall be appointed by the following persons, to-wit: The Deputy City Attorney and the Stenographer in the City Attorney's office shall be appointed by the City Lttorney. The officers, assistants and employees in the Depart- ment of Finance shall be appointed by the Commissioner of Finance. The officers, assistants and employees in the Depart- ment of Safety shall be appointed by the Commissioner of Safety. The officers, assistants and employees in the Depart- ment of Public Works shall be appointed by the Commissioner of Public Works. Appointments in the Police and Fire Departments, except for the Chief of Fire Department , Chief of Polio, Police Matron and Cook and Jailer, shall be made subject to Civil Service regulations of the City of Everett. Section 21: That on and after the 1st day of January, 1939 , the salaries and compensation to be paid to the officers , their assistants and employees of the City of Everett, herein specified, shall be as in this Ordinance pro- vided, to-wit: Section 22: CITY ATTORNEY. First Assistant Librarian 135.00 per mo. Childrens' Librarian 130.00 per mo. Cataloger 120.00 per mo. Substitute Professional Assistant 85.00 per no. Desk Clerk 80.00 per mo. Clerk (part time) 80.00 per no. Typist and Clerk65.00 per mo. Various Assistants at from 35V to 500 per hour.
