<br />HEATING AND VENTILATING EQUIPMENT ASSOCIATED WITH THIS BOOTH SHALL
<br />BE CONTROLLED BY A PROGRAMMABLE LOGIC CONTROLLER (PLC). CONTROL
<br />DECISIONS SHALL BE MADE AT THE PLC BASED ON INPUT SIGNALS RECEIVED B
<br />FROM SENSORS LOCATED IN THE SYSTEM. OUTPUT SIGNALS FROM THE PLC
<br />SHALL ENERGIZE, DEENERGIZE OR MODULATE CONTROLLED DEVICES TO
<br />MAINTAIN PROGRAMMED SET POINTS OR CONDITIONS. ANALOG AND DIGITAL
<br />INPUT AND OUTPUT SIGNALS SHALL BE UTILIZED BY THE CONTROLLER.
<br />DIGITAL INPUT OR OUTPUT SIGNALS SHALL BE USED FOR TWO POSITION
<br />CONTROL MODES. ANALOG INPUT OR OUTPUT SIGNALS SHALL BE USED FOR ALL
<br />OTHER CONTROL MODES.
<br />EQUIPMENT OPERATIONAL STATUS SHALL BE INDICATED AT THE PLC AS
<br />SENSED BY CURRENT RELAYS (XM) AT EACH MOTOR AS INDICATED ON THE
<br />CONTROL DIAGRAM.
<br />RUN LIGHTS (XI) SHALL BE PROVIDED ADJACENT TO THE OPERATIONAL MODE
<br />PUSHBUTTONS AT THE OPERATORS CONTROL PANEL AS SHOWN ON THE CONTROL
<br />DIAGRAM TO INDICATE THE MODE OF OPERATION THE SYSTEM IS OPERATING
<br />IN. RUN LIGHTS SHALL BE RED.
<br />BOOTH EXHAUST FAN (EF)
<br />GENERAL:
<br />EACH VERTICAL PAINT BOOTH HAS TWO EXHAUST FANS (EF). THE CONTROL
<br />DIAGRAM AND THE FOLLOWING SEQUENCE DESCRIBE OPERATIONS FOR ONLY ONE
<br />FAN SYSTEM, BUT ARE TYPICAL FOR BOTH UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED.
<br />THE EF SHALL BE EITHER MANUALLY OR AUTOMATICALLY STARTED THROUGH
<br />THE H-O-A SWITCH (HS-2XX01) LOCATED AT THE MOTOR CONTROL CENTER.
<br />MANUAL ACTIVATION SHALL OCCUR IN THE HAND POSITION. AUTOMATIC
<br />ACTIVATION SHALL OCCUR THROUGH THE PLC WHEN THE H-O-A SWITCH IS
<br />POSITIONED IN THE AUTO POSITION. THE SWITCH SHOULD NORMALLY BE
<br />POSITIONED IN THE AUTO POSITION.
<br />WHEN THE EF IS EITHER MANUALLY OR AUTOMATICALLY STARTED, THE
<br />SOLENOID VALVES ON THE PLANT COMPRESSED AIR LINES SERVING THE FANS
<br />AUTOMATIC DAMPER (SnV-2XX01) AND THE BOOTH SPRAY GUN (SnV-OXXO1 AND
<br />OXXO2) SHALL BE ENERGIZED. WHEN ENERGIZED, THESE VALVES SHALL ALLOW
<br />90 PSIG AIR TO THE AUTOMATIC AIR DAMPER AND THE BOOTH DISTRIBUTION
<br />SYSTEM SERVING THE SPRAY GUN AIR OUTLETS. THE 90 PSIG AIR SHALL
<br />OPEN THE NORMALLY CLOSED (N.C.) AUTOMATIC AIR DAMPER. WHEN THE EF
<br />IS DEACTIVATED FOR ANY REASON THE SOLENOID VALVES SHALL BE
<br />DEENERGIZED, ALLOWING PLANT AIR TO BLEED OFF THE SYSTEMS. THIS
<br />SHALL DEACTIVATE THE SPRAY GUNS AND ALLOW THE AUTOMATIC DAMPER TO
<br />RETURN TO ITS FAIL SAFE (NORMAL) POSITION.
<br />AIR FLOW CONTROL:
<br />THE EF VARIABLE FREQUENCY DRIVE (VFD) SHALL CONTROL EXHAUST SYSTEM
<br />AIR FLOW BASED ON PREDETERMINED AIR FLOW SETTINGS (SEE DRAWING M3)
<br />IN RESPONSE TO PLC COMMANDS. THE CONTROL SYSTEM INSTALLER AND THE
<br />HVAC BALANCING CONTRACTOR SHALL WORK TOGETHER TO ESTABLISH THESE
<br />SET POINTS AS REQUIRED TO OBTAIN THE VARIOUS AIR FLOWS DESCRIBED
<br />BELOW UNDER OPERATIONAL MODES A, B, AND C. THESE SET POINTS SHALL
<br />BE DISPLAYED AND SHALL BE ADJUSTABLE FROM THE PLC STATION. ACCESS
<br />TO CHANGE THESE SET POINTS SHALL BE PASSWORD PROTECTED. CONTROL OF
<br />EACH OF THE THREE MODES SHALL BE AT THE LOCAL CONTROL STATION AND
<br />SHALL BE REMOTELY INDICATED AT THE PLC STATION.
<br />ON A CHANGE IN AIR FLOW (OPERATIONAL MODE CHANGE), THE PLC SHALL
<br />RAMP -UP THE FAN VARIABLE FREQUENCY DRIVE. THE RAMP -UP DURATION FROM
<br />NO -FLOW TO FULL -FLOW SHALL BE IN EQUAL INCREMENTS FOR A 90 SECOND
<br />TIME PERIOD (ADJUSTABLE). THE SAME STEPS ESTABLISHED FOR THE NO -
<br />FLOW TO FULL -FLOW RAMP -UP SHALL BE USED FOR RAMP -UP FROM ANY AIR
<br />FLOW MODE TO A HIGHER AIR FLOW MODE.
<br />WHEN THE SYSTEM IS OPERATING IN THE MANUAL MODE OF CONTROL (HAND
<br />POSITION AT THE H-O-A SWITCH), THE FAN SHALL NOT BE UNDER CONTROL
<br />OF THE PLC AND AIR FLOW SHALL FAIL TO THE FULL FLOW (OPERATIONAL
<br />MODE B) SETTING.
<br />FAN SAFETY CONTROLS:
<br />WHEN THE EF IS OPERATING IN EITHER THE MANUAL OR AUTOMATIC MODE AND
<br />SMOKE IS DETECTED BY THE DUCT SMOKE DETECTOR (AS-2XX01), THE
<br />EXHAUST FAN SHALL BE DEENERGIZED AND CONTROLLED COMPONENTS SHALL
<br />RETURN TO THEIR FAIL SAFE POSITIONS. SMOKE DETECTOR ALARMS, AS WITH
<br />OTHER SUMMARY ALARMS, SHALL BE REGISTERED AT THE EVERETT DISPATCH
<br />CENTER THROUGH THE EXISTING FACILITY ENERGY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
<br />STATION. SUMMARY ALARMS SHALL BE ENTERED IN ONE OF THE LOCAL 40-51
<br />'EXCEL' PANELS FOR FORWARDING TO THE EXISTING FACILITY ENERGY
<br />MANAGEMENT SYSTEM. UPON RECEIPT OF A MALFUNCTION, DISPATCH SHALL
<br />NOTIFY THE COGNIZANT MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR, WHO WILL, IN TURN,
<br />SEND THE APPROPRIATE MAINTENANCE PERSON WHO WILL DETERMINE THE
<br />EXACT NATURE OF THE SYSTEM MALFUNCTION AT THE 40-51 PLC STATION.
<br />INDIVIDUAL SYSTEM STATUS AND ALARMS SHALL BE REGISTERED AND
<br />DISPLAYED AT THE PLC STATION.
<br />WHEN THE EXHAUST FAN IS DEENERGIZED FOR ANY REASON, THE ASSOCIATED
<br />BOOTH SUPPLY FAN (SF) SHALL BE
<br />DEENERGIZED AND THEIR ASSOCIATED CONTROL COMPONENTS SHALL RETURN TO
<br />THEIR FAIL SAFE POSITIONS.
<br />IF EXHAUST AIR FLOW IS NOT PROVEN BY PRESSURE DIFFERENTIAL
<br />TRANSMITTER (PdT-2XX01), THE EXHAUST FAN MOTOR SHALL BE DEENERGIZED
<br />WHICH SHALL DEENERGIZE THE SOLENOID VALVES (SnV-OXX01 AND OXXO2)
<br />SERVING THE PAINT BOOTH SPRAY GUNS AND (SnV-2XX01) SERVING THE
<br />N.C.-AAD. THIS ALARM CONDITION SHALL BE INDICATED AT THE EXISTING
<br />FACILITY ENERGY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM.
<br />FILTER BANK:
<br />PRESSURE DROP ACROSS THE FILTER BANK SHALL BE MONITORED AT THE
<br />LOCAL PRESSURE DIFFERENTIAL INDICATOR TRANSMITTER (PdIT-2XXO1)
<br />LOCATED ON THE BOOTH CONTROL PANEL. WHEN THE DIFFERENTIAL PRESSURE
<br />ACROSS THE FILTERS EXCEEDS THE FILTER CHANGE OUT SET POINT, THIS
<br />INFORMATION SHALL BE REGISTERED AT THE EVERETT DISPATCH CENTER
<br />THROUGH THE FACILITY ENERGY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM STATION. SUMMARY
<br />ALARMS SHALL BE ENTERED IN ONE OF THE LOCAL 40-51 'EXCEL' PANELS
<br />FOR FORWARDING TO THE FACILITY ENERGY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM. UPON
<br />RECEIPT OF A MALFUNCTION, DISPATCH SHALL NOTIFY THE COGNIZANT

<br />DAMPER (SnV-3XX02), AND ON THE INSTRUMENT AIR LINE SERVING THE
<br />VARIOUS SYSTEM CONTROL VALVES (SnV-3XX01) SHALL BE ENERGIZED. WHEN
<br />ENERGIZED, THESE VALVES SHALL ALLOW 90 PSIG AIR TO THE AUTOMATIC
<br />AIR DAMPER AND THE I/P SERVING THE FACE & BY-PASS DAMPER (I/P-
<br />3XX03) AND 20 PSIG INSTRUMENT AIR TO THE I/P SERVING EACH CONTROL
<br />VALVE(I/P-3XX01 , 3XX02 AND 7XX01). THE 90 PSIG AIR SHALL OPEN THE
<br />NORMALLY CLOSED (N.C.) AUTOMATIC AIR DAMPER. WHEN THE SF IS
<br />DEACTIVATED FOR ANY REASON THE SOLENOID VALVES SHALL BE
<br />DEENERGIZED, ALLOWING PLANT AND INSTRUMENT AIR TO BLEED OFF THE
<br />SYSTEMS. THIS SHALL ALLOW THE AUTOMATIC AIR DAMPER, FACE & BY-PASS
<br />DAMPER, AND THE CONTROL VALVES TO RETURN TO THEIR FAIL SAFE
<br />(NORMAL) POSITIONS.

<br />INDICATING TRANSMITTER (PdIT-5XX02) INSTALLED ACROSS THE VERTICAL
<br />PAINT BOOTH WALL.
<br />ON A CHANGE IN AIR FLOW (OPERATINAL MODE CHANGE), THE PLC SHALL

<br />WHEN OPERATIONAL MODE A PUSH BUTTON (HS-OXX02) IS SELECTED AND THE
<br />HOA'S ARE IN THE AUTO POSITIONS, THE PLC SHALL AUTOMATICALLY
<br />ACTIVATE THE BOOTH EXHAUST FANS (EF), SUPPLY FANS (SF),
<br />SEQUENCE OF OPERATION FOR EACH OF THE
<br />SELECTED SYSTEMS SHALL BE AS PREVIOUSLY DESCRIBED WITH THE
<br />FOLLOWING MODE SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS.BOOTH EXHAUST FANS (EF) SHALL
<br />OPERATE IN THE 25,000 CFM (EACH) SETTING.BOOTH SUPPLY FANS (SF)
<br />SHALL OPERATE IN THE 25,000 CFM (PER SET OF 2) SETTING. TWO STAGE
<br />HEATING SHALL BE ACTIVATED. PREHEAT HEATING SHALL NORMALLY BE
<br />DEACTIVATED (UNLESS OUTDOOR TEMPERATURE IS 36 DEGREES F OR LOWER).
<br />OPERATIONAL MODE B - PAINTING
<br />WHEN OPERATIONAL MODE B PUSH BUTTON (HS-OXX03) IS SELECTED AND THE
<br />HOA'S ARE IN THE AUTO POSITIONS, THE PLC SHALL AUTOMATICALLY
<br />ACTIVATE THE BOOTH EXHAUST FANS (EF), SUPPLY FANS (SF),
<br />SEQUENCE OF OPERATION FOR EACH OF THE SELECTED SYSTEMS SHALL BE AS
<br />PREVIOUSLY DESCRIBED WITH THE FOLLOWING MODE SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS.
<br />BOOTH EXHAUST FANS (EF) SHALL OPERATE IN THE 64,000 CFM (EACH)
<br />SETTING.
<br />BOOTH SUPPLY FANS (SF) SHALL OPERATE IN THE 64,000 CFM (PER SET OF
<br />2) SETTING. TWO STAGE HEATING SHALL BE ACTIVATED. PREHEAT HEATING
<br />SHALL NORMALLY BE DEACTIVATED (UNLESS OUTDOOR TEMPERATURE IS 36
<br />DEGREES F OR LOWER).
<br />OPERATIONAL MODE C - CURE
<br />WHEN OPERATIONAL MODE C PUSH BUTTON (HS-OXX04) IS SELECTED AND THE
<br />HOA'S ARE IN THE AUTO POSITIONS, THE PLC SHALL AUTOMATICALLY
<br />ACTIVATE THE BOOTH EXHAUST FANS (EF), SUPPLY FANS (SF).
<br />SEQUENCE OF OPERATION FOR EACH OF THE SELECTED SYSTEMS SHALL BE AS
<br />PREVIOUSLY DESCRIBED WITH THE FOLLOWING MODE -SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS.
<br />THERE ARE FOUR PHASES WITHIN THIS OPERATING MODE: PURGE, RAMP -UP, STEADY
<br />STATE, AND RAMP -DOWN. THE PHASES ARE PROGRESSIVE BASED UPON AN
<br />ADJUSTABLE TIME SCHEDULE. IN ALL PHASES OF MODE C, THE PREHEAT
<br />FUNCTION SHALL BE ACTIVE.

<br />MONITOR THE RELATIVE PRESSURIZATION OF THE BOOTH. THE PLC SHALL
<br />CONTROL THE PRESSURIZATION UTILIZING THE SUPPLY FAN VFD'S.
<br />PURGE PHASE: BEFORE ANY TEMPERATURE RAMP -UP OCCUR, THE
<br />BOOTH SHALL BE VENTILATED FOR 10 MINUTES.
<br />RAMP -UP PHASE: THE RAMP -UP PHASE CONSISTS OF A DRY BULB TEMPERATURE
<br />RAMP -UP FOR THE RAMP -UP PHASE, THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS APPLY.
<br />BOOTH EXHAUST FANS (EF) SHALL OPERATE IN THE 25,000 CFM (EACH) SETTING.
<br />BOOTH SUPPLY FANS (SF) SHALL OPERATE IN THE 25,000 CFM (PER SET OF
<br />2) SETTING. BOTH STAGES OF HEATING CONTROL SHALL BE ACTIVATED.
<br />PREHEAT CONTROL SHALL BE ACTIVATED. DURING THE DRY BULB TEMPERATURE
<br />RAMP -UP, THE TEMPERATURE OF THE BOOTH SHALL BE ELEVATED FROM THE
<br />MODE B TEMPERATURE TO 120 DEGREES F OVER A PERIOD OF 40 MINUTES.
<br />STEADY STATE PHASE: AFTER THE RAMP -UP PERIOD IS OVER AND SPACE CURE
<br />TEMPERATURE STABILIZE, THE PLC SHALL CONTROL
<br />THE OPERATION OF ALL SUPPLY AND EXHAUST SYSTEM COMPONENTS TO
<br />MAINTAIN THE CURE MODE TEMPERATURE IN THE BOOTH FOR
<br />THE SELECTED PERIOD OF TIME.
<br />RAMP -DOWN PHASE: AFTER THE END OF THE CURE HOLD PERIOD, THE RAMP -
<br />DOWN PHASE SHALL BE INITIATED. DURING THE RAMP -DOWN PHASE,
<br />THE DRY BULB
<br />TEMPERATURE SHALL BE REDUCED FROM 120 DEGREES F TO THE INDOOR
<br />AMBIENT TEMPERATURE OVER A PERIOD OF 40 MINUTES.
<br />VERTICAL PAINT BOOTH LID AND DOOR CONTROL
<br />THE BOOTH CLOSURE LID AND HORIZONTAL SLIDING DOOR CONTROLS WILL BE
<br />PROVIDED BY THE VERTICAL PAINT BOOTH SUPPLIER. OPERATIONAL MODES A,
<br />B AND C SHALL NOT BE ALLOWED TO OPERATE UNTIL A SIGNAL IS RECEIVED
<br />FROM THE WING PREPARATION AND PAINT CONTROL PLC, SUPPLIED BY THE
<br />BOOTH VENDOR, INDICATING THE LID AND SLIDING DOORS ARE COMPLETELY
<br />CLOSED.
<br />THE PREVIOUSLY MENTIONED WING PREPARATION AND PAINT CONTROL PLC
<br />WILL NOT ALLOW WING PREPARATION ACTIVITIES OR PAINTING ACTIVITIES
<br />TO BEGIN UNTIL THE LID AND SLIDING DOORS ARE COMPLETELY CLOSED AND
<br />THE APPROPRIATE OPERATIONAL MODE IS PROVEN. PROVIDE A SIGNAL TO THE
<br />WING PREP AND PAINT CONTROL PLC INDICATING THE SYSTEMS ARE
<br />OPERATING IN THE APPROPRIATE OPERATIONAL MODE.
<br />THE CONTROL SYSTEM SUPPLIER AND THE VERTICAL PAINT BOOTH SUPPLIER
<br />SHALL WORK TOGETHER TO COORDINATE INTERFACE REQUIREMENTS BETWEEN

<br />SHALL BE AS LISTED IN THE START-UP PRIORITY LIST THAT FOLLOWS. ONCE
<br />A COMMAND IS ISSUED TO INITIATE A PARTICULAR OPERATIONAL MODE, THE
<br />FIRST SYSTEM SHALL BE ENERGIZED. THE SUBSEQUENT SYSTEMS SHALL BE
<br />SEQUENTIALLY ENERGIZED AS LISTED IN THE START-UP PRIORITY LIST WITH
<br />A MINIMUM 5 SECOND TIME DELAY (ADJUSTABLE) BETWEEN EACH GROUPING OF
<br />EQUIPMENT FOR THAT PARTICULAR OPERATIONAL MODE. ALL AUTOMATIC
<br />SHUTDOWN SAFETIES SHALL BE OVERRIDDEN FOR 90 SECONDS (ADJUSTABLE)
