STANDARD PRODUCTS: Where available, provide standard products of types
that have been produced and used successfully in similar situations on other
project.
B. PRODUCT SELECTION PROCEDURES: Product selection is governed by contract
documents and governing regulations, not by previous project experience. Procedures
governing product selection include the following:
1. PROPRIETARY SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Where only a single product
or manufacturer is named, followed by "no equal", "no substitution", "or no
exception", provide the product indicated. NON-PROPRIETARY SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Where the
specifications name products or manufacturers that are indicative of the type and
quality of the product to be incorporated in the work, followed by the term "or
equal", or similar language, comply with the contract documents provisions
concerning "product substitutions" to obtain approval for use of an unnamed
product.
4. DESCRIPTIVE SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Where the specifications
describe a product or assembly defining the characteristics required, but with or
without use of a brand or trade name, provide products or assemblies that provide
the characteristics indicated and otherwise comply with contract requirements.
5. PERFORMANCE SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Where specifications
require compliance with performance requirements, provide products that comply
with these requirements, which are recommended by the manufacturer for the
application indicated. Submit manufacturer's recommendations contained in
published product literature, or by the manufacturer's individual certification of
performance for approval by Architect. General overall performance of a product
is implied where the product is specified for specific application.
6. VISUAL MATCHING: Where matching an established sample is required, the
owners decision will be final on whether a proposed product matches satisfactorily.
a.
