The response is not sufficient to address the comment. <br /> The submitted calculations only appear to represent a single beam, though the dimensions in <br /> the calculation are not consistent with any of the cross-sections. Calculations representing each <br /> condition shall be provided for review. Where steps and sloping surfaces occur in the beams <br /> along their lengths, the design of the beam shall incorporate these conditions. Where a <br /> reduced cross-section is considered, the addition beam cross-section shall be included in the <br /> design loads. The original comment has been provided below with revisions. Additional review <br /> comments may be provided pending review of the design. <br /> The L1 slab on Sheet S2.07 includes transfer beams CB36x22* at Grids 5.3/A-D and 7/A-D, and <br /> CB24x64* at Grid 6.4/A-D; the significance of the"*"does not appear to be defined. The <br /> project also includes additional beams CB24x64* at Grid 6.4/D-F on Sheet S2.07, CB24x24 and <br /> CB13.5x24 at Grids 4/G-J and 4.9/G-J, respectively, on Sheet S2.03, and in Section 2/S3.00. <br /> The following comments shall be addressed: <br /> a. Calculations substantiating the beam design shall be submitted for review. The design shall <br /> consider the load combinations per ASCE 7-10 Section 12.4.2.3 including the vertical seismic <br /> load effects per Section 12.4.2.2. <br /> b. Details for the beams, including the end connections to the supports and the required <br /> reinforcement, shall be included in the structural drawings. See IBC Section 1604.1 and <br /> 1901.5 Item 3. Note that the sections on Sheet S6.02 are generally not consistent with the <br /> beam sizes indicated on the plans. <br /> c. Section 1/A6.02 indicates a larger beam beyond. This beam does not appear to exist on the <br /> plans. <br /> d. Beam CB36x32 on Section 3/S6.02 includes an unspecified dimension below the"6-inch <br /> NOTCH"dimension. The dimension shall be specified. <br /> e. The beams in Section 1/S3.00 and on Sheet S6.02 specify various reinforcement per <br /> "schedule". A schedule does not appear to be provided in the drawings. <br /> f. Beam CB13.5x24 is shown with a varying depth in Section 1/S3.00. It appears that the <br /> bottom of the beam may not coincide with the slab south of Grid 4.9.
