We will respond to your latest set of review comments in a formal letter but I
wanted to share the confirming email received from Simpson Strong Tie Engineer Phillip Hui.
Per previously submitted calculations for the bolted on cantilevered decks we have an ASD tension demand of 4.94 kips
with a Cd = 1.0(dead and live)considering deck live load at 60 psf.
Per email below the specified Simpson HDUS-SD2.5 tension tie with Cd = 1.0 has a capacity of 5460 pounds using the
specified 2.5"SDS screws into (2) 1.75 LSL joists. Design specific gravity of LSL lumber is 0.5 (same as Doug fir)
Simpson strong tie engineers have confirmed the capacity of the tension tie subject to static loading and thus our
previously submitted calculations and detail are OK as submitted.
Please call with questions.
i l3
