•
See the revised Sheet A1.3 calling out new hangers (refer to Sheet S1.0) to the new beam per
plan. See the new detail 1 on S2.0 for the new ceiling rafters to the new roof rafters.
6. See Section on Sheet A1.3. New 2x8 roof rafters are shown extending beyond the new roof
beam. It is unclear the span lengths of the new roof joists and the connections. If rafters are
extending back to the existing ridge beam, then the ridge beam should be evaluated for the
additional dead load. Also, plans should show how rafters are connected to the new wall top
plate.
See the structural calculations showing that the replaced roof rafters are designed to place
no new load onto the existing ridge beam.
7. Plans should show a fastening schedule. See Section R602.3
See the general notes on Sheet S1.0 for the fastening requirements/schedule for the job.
8. Section on Sheet A1.3 should show how the existing rafter is connected to new dormer wall.
See the new detail 1 on S2.0 for how the new roof rafters attach to the new dormer wall.
9. Plans should specify how the multi-member beams are connected. For example, the new roof
beam (2) 1 3/4"x 11 7/8" LVL and the new (3) 1 3/4"x 7 1/4"floor beam.
See the general notes on Sheet S1.0 for how multi-ply members should be connected.
10. See Structural Calculations Page 1. Floor Beam B2 appears to not include the entire supporting
load. Section 3 on Sheet A1.3 shows floor joists spanning perpendicular to the Floor Beam B2;
however, Structural Sketches (Upper Floor Framing Plan) show floor joists spanning parallel to
the Floor Beam B2. The direction of the existing floor joists is unclear. If joists are perpendicular
to the new floor beam, then plans should show the connection of existing floor joist to new
beam. Update Structural Calculations as necessary.
See the updated plans with the Section now correctly showing the existing floor joists spanning
parallel to the new beam B2. The beam B2 has been re-calculated for the new roof rafter
11. See Structural Calculations Upper Floor Framing Plan sketch. Framing plan should show how the
new floor beam is connected to the (2) 2x8.
See the updated plans with the new hanger callout to support the new LVL beam.
12. Plans and Structural Calculations should show a continuous load path down to the foundation
