It is unclear the span lengths of the new roof joists and the connections. If rafters are <br /> extending back to the existing ridge beam, then the ridge beam should be evaluated for the <br /> additional dead load. Also, plans should show how rafters are connected to the new wall top <br /> plate. <br /> See the structural calculations showing that the replaced roof rafters are designed to place <br /> no new load onto the existing ridge beam. <br /> 7. The direction of the existing floor joists is unclear. If joists are perpendicular <br /> to the new floor beam, then plans should show the connection of existing floor joist to new <br /> beam.
