This is for the EOR's information and does not require a response as the calculations have been adjusted. ASCE
7 Section 15.5.3 states to design per MH 16.1 "except as follows". This document is amended by ASCE 7 as
noted in Section 15.5.3.5, limiting R=4.
2. No additional comment.
3. We concur that 0=2 is acceptable. However, it is not clear where and how this has been applied. It appears
that the factor may have been applied to the net uplift and reduction for gravity loading, which would not be
correct. Page 25 of the revised calculations includes load combinations that do not appear to show the
overstrength factor. In addition, the resulting net uplift force is used in the anchor calculation on page 26. The
application of the overstrength factor should be clarified. The calculations and design should be revised as
needed.
At this point, please submit hardcopies of the calculations and revised drawings for review via the normal
process. Thank you.
Drew Martin, P.E.,S.E.
EnAssociate Engineer—Commercial Plans Examiner I Permit Services
425.257.8813 13200 Cedar Street, 2nd Floor, Everett,WA 98201
EVERETT Hours: M/W/Th/F: 7:30am-12:00pm & 1:00pm-3:00pm;Tu: 1:OOpm-3:00pm
everettwa.gov I Facebook I Twitter
From:Tom Gaston<tomg@appliednw.com>
Sent:Tuesday,July 6, 2021 1:29 PM
To: Drew Martin <dmartin@everettwa.gov>
Cc:Tom Gaston<tomg@appliednw.com>
Subject: RE: City of Everett Permit Services: 1525 75th Street SW(B2106-060)- First Building Review
Greg,
The attached is what I meant to send you.
Sorry for the mix up.
Tom
TOM g/4STON
PROJECT/TERRITORY MANAGER
APPLIED HANDLING NW
