• <br /> Helper; One (1) Hydrant Flusher, (part time) ; One (1) Relief <br /> Operator; One (1) pipefitter; One (1) Janitor; One (1) Basin <br /> l atrolmrn and common laborers. <br /> The superintendent shall be in general charge and <br /> supervision of the :later Department. The other employees and <br /> assistants shall perform such duties as p ?rtain to the nature <br /> of their office and as authorized and directed by the superin- <br /> terrdent and Commissioner of Public Works. <br /> Section 19. Additional employees in the Water <br /> Department. There is hereby created in the Water Depart- <br /> ment the following additional officers, assistants and employees <br /> in connection with the Water . roject as provided by Ordinances <br /> No. 2687 and 2698 of the amity of Everett , to-wit : <br /> One (l) Project Engineer; One (1) Consulting Engineer, <br /> (part time) ; Transitmen; Levelmen; Rodrnen; Head' Chainmen; Rear <br /> Chainmen; Axemen; Clerk Typist; Draftsmen; Chief Inspector; <br /> Inspectors; Assistant Inspectors and Estimate Clerk. <br /> That none of the officers or employees hereby pro- <br /> vided for shall be permanent officers or employees, but shall <br /> be considered as temporary officers and employees only, and <br /> shall be employed only when there is work to perform. Such <br /> officers and employees stall perform duties which the Superin- <br /> tendent of the `Aster System or the Commissioner of public Works <br /> shall designate. <br /> Section 20 : it is the purpose of this ordinance <br /> to fix the number and designation of the permanent assistants, <br /> deputies and employees in the various offices of the City of' <br /> Everett , and nothing herein cOntained shall be construed so <br /> as to prevent the various officers and various heads of the <br /> departments of the City of Everett from employing, with the <br /> consent of the city council , such employees as , from time to <br /> time , may be necessary in the proper discharge of the duties <br /> of such officers, or from discontinuing such temporary employees <br /> when the necessity therefor has ceased to exist. <br /> Section 21 : The following named officers, assist- <br /> ants and employees , unless otherwise provided by the City <br /> 'Charter, viall be appointed by the following persons, to-wit : <br /> The Deputy City Attorney and the stenographer in the <br /> City Attorney' s office shall be appointed by the City Attorney. <br /> The officers, assistants and employees in the Depart- <br /> ment of Finance shall be appointed by the Commissioner of <br /> Finance. <br /> The officers, assistants and employees in the Depart- <br /> ment of Safety shall be appointed by the commissioner of <br /> Safety. <br /> The officers, assistants and employees in tie Depart- <br /> ment of Public Works shall be appointed by the Commissioner of <br /> Public Works. <br /> Appointments in the Police and Fire Departments , <br /> except appointments for Chief of Fire Department , Chief of <br /> Police , Police Yatron and Cook and Jailer, shall be made <br /> subject to Civil Service regulations of the City of Everett. <br /> 5- <br />
