i <br /> • <br /> (e) Except when installed in one and two family <br /> residences, it shall be the duty of the person in charge of <br /> every oil burner, used to heat air or water, to.. inspect the <br /> oil burner while same is in operation, and the fire box <br /> in which installed, at least twice in each twenty-four Hour <br /> period. <br /> (f) Complete legible instructions for correctly <br /> operating and maintaining oil burning equipment shall be <br /> posted at all times in the room containing the oil burner, <br /> with the princ ipal directions for proper operation and <br /> maintenance shown in bold face type in concise non-technical - <br /> terms. These instruction sheets stall be subject to the <br /> approval of the Fire Chief and shall include instructions <br /> for proving the correct operation of all important parts while <br /> in service . <br /> (g) It shall be the duty of the person in charge of <br /> every oil burner installed in any building , to inspect and <br /> maintain the equipment for proper operation free from unneces- <br /> sary fire hazard or other dangerous conditions , and to have <br /> necessary adjustments made by a competent person, and no other <br /> duties shall interfere with such attention as often as required <br /> by the nature of the installation and the working conditions. <br /> (h) It shall be the duty of the person in <br /> charge of every oil burner installed in any building , to allow <br /> no accumulation of leakage of oil in the furnace pit or in <br /> the fire box or on the basement or boiler room floor; to keep <br /> the nozzle of the oil burner clean and free from carbon <br /> and dirt; to keep the fire box free from excessive deposits <br /> of carbon; to keep oil piping through which oil is delivered <br /> from the oil storage tank to the burner absolutely tight , <br /> and free from oil leaks; to keep all packing glands of the <br /> oil pumping apparatus tight and free from oil leaks and <br /> to keep the oil burner in proper working order at all times. <br /> In case carbon deposit shall form within Two (2) feet of the <br /> nozzle of the oil burner, such carbon ae_uosit snail be <br /> immediately rshoved and the cause thereof corrected. <br /> ( i) It shall be unlawful to use or cause to be used <br /> any oil burning equipment that has become unsafe, or is in <br /> imminent danger of becoming so. <br /> Section 2: An emergency is declared to exist and <br /> this ordinance shall take effect upon its passage and publics.- <br /> tion. <br /> Mayor � <br /> Attest: • <br /> City Clerk <br /> Passed:Oct . 21 , 1937 . <br /> rublished:Oct. 22 , 1937. <br /> -2- <br />
