. , <br /> ORDINANCE No. ��,-.37 <br /> AN ORDINANCE relating to vehicles and the operation. <br /> thereof upon the public streets and otherpublic places of the <br /> City of Everett; providing for vehicle equipmen4; limiting and <br /> restricting certain sections of the public streets and other <br /> public places of the City of Everett; prescribing rules of the <br /> road for vehicles operating on public streets or other public <br /> places of the pity of Everett; defining offences and fixing <br /> penalties; repealing certain ordinances and parts of ordinances <br /> in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance; saving <br /> certain acts performed and declaring an emergency. <br /> T.F .; CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1 : The following words and phrases, <br /> wherever used in this Ordinance shall have the meaning as in <br /> this section ascribed to them, unless where used the context <br /> thereof shall clearly indicate to the contrary: <br /> (a) "Alley. " A public highway within the ordi- <br /> nary meaning of alley not designed for general travel and <br /> primarily used as a means of access to the rear of residences <br /> and business establishments. <br /> (b) "Arterial Highway. " Every public highway, <br /> as herein defined , or portion thereof designated as such by <br /> proper authority. <br /> (c) "Authorized Emergency Vehicle. " Any vehicle, <br /> as herein defined, of any fire department, police department , <br /> sheriff' s office, coroner, prosecuting attorney, Washington <br /> State patrol , ambulance service , public or private, or any <br /> other vehicle authorized in writing by the state commission on <br /> equipment. <br /> (d) "Bicycle. " Every vehicle, as herein defined, <br /> having a saddle for the use of the rider, operated by human <br /> power , and designed to travel on not more than three wheels <br /> in contact with the ground , but excluding a farm tractor. <br /> (e) "Business District. " The territory contiguous <br /> to and including the public highway, as herein defined , When <br /> fifty per cent (50 ) or more of the frontage thereon on either <br />
