• <br /> It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corpora- <br /> tion to sell, offer for sale or expose for sale the meat of any <br /> animal, (except poultry or game) , intended for human consumption, <br /> in the City of Everett, unless the same has been inspected and <br /> passed and approved by an inspector of the City of Everett, or <br /> unless such meat bears the stamp mark or tag indication of <br /> inspection by the Bureau of Animal Industries of the Department <br /> of Agriculture of the United States, or the Department of <br /> Agriculture of the United States, or the Department of Agri- <br /> culture of the State of Washington, or any "ity of the State of <br /> vaashington so long as the inspection of such meat is made by <br /> said bureau, department or city under regulations like those <br /> contained herein. rrovided , that this section shall not be <br /> construed to prohibit producers residing beyond the limits of <br /> the city of Everett from killing necessary animals and selling <br /> the same within the uity, but no such animals or parts thereof <br /> shall be sold until the same shall be inspected by an inspector <br /> of the City of Everett in such places and at such hours as may be <br /> approved by the Board of Health. 4ith reference to hogs it <br /> shall be necessary that the pluck shall be intact. (Heart, lungs <br /> and liver) . <br /> It shall be unlawful to place any refuse, bones, rancid <br /> fat, hides or decaying food in any ice box or refrigerating room <br /> with fresh meats or other foods; nor shall any fish or strangely <br /> scented food be placed in the same compartment with fresh meat, <br /> dressed poultry, game or other foods in such manner as to impart <br /> any fishy or other distinctive odor or flavor to such foods. <br /> Rabbits and poultry shall not be cleaned or dressed, <br /> wet or dry, in rooms used for the manufacture of sausages, <br /> weiners or other prepared meat, except by special permission of <br /> the uity Board of Health. <br /> .ihe word "PERSON" whenever used in this ordinance shall <br /> be held and construed to mean and include an individual of either <br /> sex or an association, co-partnership or corporation, whether <br /> acting by themselves or by a servant, agent or employee. the <br /> singular number shall be held and construed to include the <br /> plural , and the masculine pronoun to include the feminine. <br /> Section 4 : Every person hereafter appointed <br /> Inspector under this or any other ordinance of the City of Everet , <br /> shall furnish a bond in the sum of Ljne 'ihousand Dollars ( 1,000.04 ) <br /> conditioned on the faithful performance of his duties and the <br /> enforcement of the provisions of this ordinance. the premium on <br /> said bond shall be paid by the uity of Everett. Only persons <br /> authorized to practice veterinary, medicine, surgery or dentistry <br /> in this state shall be appointed as such Inspector; provided, <br /> however, that persons having been employed as veterinary inspectors <br /> by the Bureau of Animal Industry of the united States Department <br /> of Agriculture and who are in good standing with said Bureau, may <br /> be considered as having proper qualifications may be appointed as <br /> such Inspector. The duties of the inspector under this ordinance <br /> may be combined with that of Meat and Sanitation Inspector. All <br /> inspectors are hereby invested with police powers, and shall , <br /> while performing their official duties, wear badges furnished by <br /> the City in the form prescribed by the Board of Health,. <br /> -4- <br />
