• . • ORDINANCE No. 2 720 AN ORDINANCE relating, to the operation of taxicabs and regulating the operation thereof upon streets of _verett; providing for certain conditions precedent to the operation thereof; providing for certain fixed rates to be charged for operation thereof; prescribing the manner of designating certain stands upon the streets of Everett; defining offenses and fixing penalties for the violation thereof, and repealing all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict therewith. T143 CITY 4F EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: Section 1: .he words and phrases herein used for the purpose of this ordinance shall have the meanings respective- ly ascribed to them in this section, except in those instances where the context clearly indicates a different meaning. (a) "Person. " Every natural person, firm, co-partnership, association or corporation. (b) "Taxicab." The term taxicab shall include every motor vehicle held for public hire and for the carriage of passengers for compensation which is not operated upon a regular schedule or between fixed termini. ( c) Words herein used in the present tense shall include the future tense ; and in the masculine shall include the feminine and neuter genders ; and in the. singular shall include the plural; and in the plural shall include the singular . Section 2: It shall be unlawful to operate any taxicab upop the, streets of Everett until any person, firm or corporatioowning or operating said taxicab has first complied with the following conditions precedent : (a) The person, firm or corporation operating said taxicab having first complied with all the laws of the State of +ashington relating to the operation of taxicabs, and. having obtained a permit from the Director of Licenses of the State of Washington for the operation of said taxicab. (b) The person, firm or corporation owning or operating said taxicab shall file the required bond of liability insurance with the Director of Licenses of the State of 'dashing- ton, as is now or may hereafter be required by law. (c ) Every person, firm or corporation owning or operating said taxicab must have on file with the City Clerk of the City of Everett a receipt from the insurance company showing payment of the premium upon such bond of liability insurance required to be filed with the Director of Licenses of the State of Washington. It is understood that said premium is paid quarterly in advance . (d) Any person, firm or corporation must have paid all license fees due the State of Washington or City of Everett ; provided this section shall not apply to any taxicab entering the City of Everett for the purpose of discharging passengers who have entered said taxicab at points outside of the city limits of the City of verett.
