D. It is unlawful for the operator or driver of a taxicab or for hire vehicle to operate <br /> such vehicle without having conspicuously displayed on such vehicle the license <br /> indicia in accordance with the requirements of this ordinance. <br /> E. Whenever a license indicia is lost, stolen or destroyed, a new indicia may be issued <br /> upon the payment of a nonrefundable replacement fee of fifty dollars and the filing <br /> of an affidavit of loss. If the original license indicia is recovered, it shall be returned <br /> to the city clerk promptly. Indicia plates will be removed from all vehicles which <br /> are destroyed or permanently removed from service. If an indicia plate is not <br /> removed and returned to the city clerk within fifteen days, a nonrefundable fee of <br /> fifty dollars will be charged to the responsible company. <br /> F. Whenever a vehicle for hire is removed from service and is removed from the <br /> insurance coverage as required in this ordinance,the vehicle shall be reinspected in <br /> accordance with the inspection requirements set forth in this ordinance prior to <br /> being placed into service. <br /> G. All indicia plates shall be and remain the property of the city and upon the <br /> revocation, surrender, suspension or expiration of a vehicle license, or if found in <br /> the possession of any person other than to whom the license was issued, the plate <br /> shall be immediately returned to the city clerk. If not immediately returned, the city <br /> clerk is authorized to confiscate the indicia plate. <br /> H. If the chief of police determines during inspection that the condition of any for-hire <br /> vehicle needs correction, he may issue to the operator or driver thereof a notice in <br /> writing specifying such defects and the same shall be remedied immediately or by a <br /> later date determined at the time of inspection. It is unlawful to fail to comply with <br /> any written notice to make corrections on the for-hire vehicle. <br /> Each taxicab must be equipped with a two-way radio dispatch system capable of <br /> operating throughout the city. <br /> It is unlawful for any for-hire driver to fail to respond to a call from the dispatcher <br /> to pick up a passenger when so requested or fail to keep the radio in the taxicab <br /> operating at all times the taxicab is operated. <br /> Section 27: Vehicle color scheme-Name of company-Number of vehicle-Interior <br /> I.D. <br /> A. All vehicles for hire shall have a uniform color scheme identifying them to the <br /> company or person under which the for-hire business license is issued. Each <br /> company or person under which the for-hire business license is issued shall have a <br /> single uniform color scheme different and distinct from the similarly licensed <br /> companies or persons. All vehicles for hire shall have in distinct, legible letters no <br /> smaller than four inches in height, the name of the company or person under which <br /> the for-hire business license is issued. <br /> The placement and location of such markings and letters shall be subject to the approval of <br /> the chief of police. <br /> B. All vehicles for hire shall be designated by a separate number and the company <br /> vehicle number shall be permanently affixed to and readable from the front, rear <br /> and sides of the vehicle,the numbers shall be affixed on the hood,truck and on <br /> both sides of the vehicle.
